What is Teamshares?

Teamshares is a mission-driven startup that buys small businesses from retiring owners and transitions them into enduring, employee-owned businesses through our software, education, and community products. There wasn't an easy way for small businesses—which make up 98% of firms in the US economy—to become employee-owned before Teamshares!

What you will do:

  • Manage and lead a full-stack engineering team responsible for building digital financial products that are critical to supporting the transition and ongoing operations of employee-owned businesses
  • Mentor and partner with engineers at various experience levels (mid-level to staff), fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth for the team and greater Teamshares Engineering Organization
  • Facilitate technical architecture discussions that shape the long term foundation of our digital products
  • Guide and own the engineering team’s process and execution to success
  • Collaborate closely with business, product, and design stakeholders, to understand different user needs and help develop product strategies to address them

What you bring:

  • Previous management and leadership experience in dynamic work environments with successful outcomes
  • A well-defined sense of ownership and informed opinions on balancing stakeholder and engineering needs
  • An adaptive and open mindset to help navigate the team through Teamshares’ novel business model
  • Past experience building web applications using Ruby on Rails (our primary tech stack) to inform technical guidance and appropriate hands-on support when needed
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with an emphasis on providing clarity to others on purpose, priority, and impact
  • Exposure to business domains with auditing and compliance standards (e.g. HIPAA, PCI, ISO 27001, and SOC-2) and incorporating their best practices and considerations to software development and architecture
