Job Summary

The EDB engineering team is growing. We need skilled, empathetic people to help grow our team, in number, skills & experience. As the Engineering Manager for our Postgres Distributed (PGD) team, you will focus your time on how to help the team be efficient, how to scale systems and processes as the team grows, identifying areas of friction and helping to smooth them over. You will identify skills gaps in the team, and how to address them through training or hiring. You will be the first point of contact for new hires & ensure they integrate into the team effectively.

Candidate Note: This role is 100% Remote. We're looking to hire within EU countries. 

What your impact will be:

  • People manager and work manager of database internal developers and testers
  • Work with Product Management to establish the product roadmaps
  • Lead the development team in an Agile environment to deliver the product roadmap
  • Collaboratively working with other product development teams on cross product features
  • Enforce software testing best practices, automation and performance testing
  • Identify & support training to expand the teams experience, in line with demands of the business
  • Manage hiring and onboarding new team members
  • Performance management of team members
  • Bring an inquisitive, innovative & collegiate attitude to problem solving. 

What you will bring: 

  • At least 12 years of experience in Software development
  • Experience in managing high performance, technical teams, including career growth of individuals
  • Demonstrable track record of running, growing & optimizing small to medium sized teams, of diverse skill sets
  • Proven performance management experience 
  • Be able to advocate for & speak on behalf of the team
  • Good written and verbal communication

  • Database internal knowledge
  • C, Go programming background

Plusses

  • Be able to support (but not run) project management activities, scoping, work breakdown, scrum etc.
  • Innovative leadership style
  • Development experience, worked in a software development team
  • Involvement in OSS communities (not just Postgres, though that’s a double plus!)
