Event Content Manager

As the Event Content Manager, you will be responsible for agenda content development and communications strategy for flagship programming including our global user conference .conf, Sales/Partner Kickoffs, industry programming, and other high-value programs. Reporting to the Director, Event Experiences, you will partner with leaders across product marketing, product management, partner marketing, and customer success to build a content strategy that aligns to Splunk’s business priorities and delivers an amazing experience for our customers and partners. You will also be responsible for the entire marketing communications plan, including audience segmentation oversight, delivery structure and cadence, web and social integration and analytical follow-up. This role will also include a focus on messaging to ensure the marketing materials and comms reflect the topics and themes of programming. This is an essential role that contributes to the entire content process, including a call-for-speakers campaign, breakout content review with legal and brand and creative, track committee management, session selection management, reporting and analytics, speaker training and support, internal and external marketing communications support. You will build relationships with sales, regional marketing, sales engineering, product and technology, brand and creative, audience segmentation, global demand center, content marketing and other cross-functional internal teams. This role will also include a focus on internal and external community engagement strategies to support the development of breakout content materials. This may include gamification, surveying and hosted listening programming to ensure the voice of the customers/users is heard.

This position resides within the Global Event Marketing team as part of the Corporate Marketing organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead all aspects of deliverables, project plans, timelines and reporting options for marcomms and breakout content for assigned programs
  • Strategize with key colleagues and corporate teams on program structure, track development and communications objectives
  • Partner with Sr Manager Content on building the strategic content approach to our flagship programs; co-lead track owners and other stakeholders to drive key deliverables including call for speakers, session scheduling, presentation reviews and onsite logistics plans
  • Manage 200+ breakout sessions, providing guidance to track owners relative to session mix and other considerations, and ensure key topics/products/solutions are covered according to defined goals
  • Manage communications to speakers and track owners; organize and host various calls/meetings
  • Produce calendars and timelines to ensure that breakout messaging and marketing communications details are communicated appropriately through all internal and external marketing channels including event attendee recruitment experience and attendee comms
  • Lead segmentation oversight and development with segmentation marketing team to meet event audience goals; identify email asset creation needs, schedule and QA to deliver on audience segmentation goals
  • Create and execute various reports that share key findings throughout content development and post-event cycles
  • Prioritize and manage publishing schedule of web pages alongside our web marketing team; review page requirements for design, wire frame, and page builds that align to event content strategy and comms goals
  • Develop strong relationships with event team and other cross functional teams
  • Collaborate and work with event agency counterparts to maximize value and output

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in marketing role in the technology sector (software industry experience preferred), with at least 2 years of event development/programming/marketing communications focus, product marketing or similar
  • Other content development and programming experience (such as proven success contributing to event programs or curriculum design/development) preferred and may be helpful in this role
  • Content management system experience - Rainfocus and Swoogo a plus - and strong Excel, Slack, PowerPoint skills and G-suite knowledge required and project management experience - Workfront, Airtable, Smartsheet skills a plus
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at once, set priorities, work independently, problem solve, improvise and function as part of a team that must perform under pressure
