Overview

GovCIO is currently hiring for a Federal Cyber Security Analyst to support multiple cybersecurity efforts and proactively monitor upcoming cyber priorities across the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and within the portfolio. This position will be fully Remote.

Responsibilities

The analyst will support multiple cybersecurity efforts and proactively monitor upcoming cyber priorities across the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and within the portfolio. Our Analyst will be responsible for: 

  • Communicate and provide consultative support on the VA on matters related to system security assessment and authorization and Authorization to Operate (ATO).
  • Coordinate and lead security and privacy activities within project teams and develop security and privacy related artifacts.
  • Review and identified system/applications security controls in accordance with NIST SP-800 53, CNSSI 1253, and VA Handbook 6500.
  • Perform cyber security and information system risk analysis, vulnerability assessment, and regulatory compliance assessment and gap analysis on existing systems and systems in development.
  • Strong understanding and hands-on experience working with Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) NIST-800-53and CNSSI 1253.
  • Must have experience achieving an ATO for projects within the VA or other Federal Agencies.
  • Responsible for on time deliverables of assigned and related security and privacy artifacts.
  • Must be able to identify and mitigate risks to the program.
  • Demonstrated experience in a remote work environment.
  • Ability to proactively communicate and coordinate with various internal and external project stakeholders, depending on needs.
  • Identifying and communicate symptoms for process improvement. 
  • Analytical and investigation skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and supervision.
  • Experience with the Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS).

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems, Business or related scientific /technical discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience
  • Must be able to obtain a CISSP or CISSP certification within 6 months of employment.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Must have experience achieving Authorization to Operate (ATO) for projects within the VA or other Federal Agencies.
  • Understanding of basic data systems engineering principles, including some analytics tools, data management, and cloud technologies.
  • Experience developing System Security Plan, Risk Assessment Report, Contingency Plan, Configuration Management Plan, Incident Response Plan, and performing Privacy Threshold Analysis, Privacy Impact Assessment and Security Impact Assessment.
  • Experience creating and managing Plans of Actions and Milestones (POA&Ms).
  • Familiarity with NIST 800-53 controls and experience conducting self-assessment on applicable security and privacy controls.

Clearance Required

  • Applicant but be able to obtain a "Public Trust" clearance

Posted Pay Range

The posted pay range, if referenced, reflects the range expected for this position at the commencement of employment, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity. The total compensation package for this position may also include other compensation elements, to be discussed during the hiring process. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the GovCIO reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, GovCIO or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Posted Salary Range

USD $125,000.00 - USD $150,000.00 /Yr.
