JOB SUMMARY

The role is to be part of the senior financial leadership team on a Global Account and to assume day-to-day ownership of the AMS region financial P&L, balance sheets, and partnership with the client, operations, and other business functions. Ensuring the region has strong team cohesion and performance as well as implementing and maintaining appropriate and adequate financial management, control, and reporting to meet all Client and CBRE requirements.

As a key member of the AMS Regional leadership team, you will actively drive the Account along with the Global Finance Director, CBRE controllership, and other supporting CBRE departments to ensure it meets the targets set through a close Client partnership agenda.

The key responsibility of the position is to provide strategic, team, and financial leadership to the AMS Account Director and Global Finance Director. The role requires exceptional Client-facing skills whilst balancing the demands of corporate responsibilities including monthly management reporting, forecasts, planning cycles, SOX controls and accounting to US GAAP by managing a diverse team.

The role must maintain positive working relationships with key departments within CBRE and the Client organization. Working within the financial contractual requirements and meeting all deadlines will be key deliverables of the role.

The individual must be willing to undertake some travel as the role/business requires.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

People Management

  • Line Management responsibility for Account AMS Regional Finance team across all countries, working with the Global Finance Director to establish a high-quality finance team each working at the top of their roles with succession planning in place.
  • Monitor and manage annual performance of individuals in the team in line with Client and account objectives developed in conjunction with the Global Finance Director.
  • Convey messages and ideas clearly and openly. Involve people and influence decisions.
  • Deal with any people issues quickly and professionally.
  • Identify needs and manage delivery of financial training including non-finance staff.
  • Effectively lead a diverse team from where they are to where they have not been. Empower team members to take responsibility and accountability.

Client

  • Develop high-quality and effective working Client relationships across the AMS region.
  • Perform as SPOC for the Client’s US region senior operations leader and Client’s US senior finance leader.
  • Assist with requests including Client audit requirements in a timely and accurate manner through effective communication and personal accessibility/credibility.
  • Use position and market knowledge to add value to Client relationship and service delivery.
  • Capture, report, and drive Account KPIs in the required framework.

Finance Leadership

  • Drive high quality financial / commercial performance through understanding the contractual commitments on service lines and ensure alignment with corporate policies.
  • Help the finance team to identify and help drive implementation of savings opportunities to ensure Client and GWS financial savings targets are maximized.
  • Ensure the AMS Finance Leads take responsibility for Balance Sheet governance and reconciliations together with full compliance with SOX control requirements (and SOC1 where applicable).
  • Active management of Regional overheads seeking areas of efficiency.
  • Liaising with and developing positive relationships with all relevant Regional Finance stakeholders particularly CBRE Controllership, the Financial Planning & Analysis team, and Account Regional Operations Teams.
  • Communicate regularly with Account finance and contract support staff to ensure they are fully informed of operational objectives, best practices and key business messages.
  • Identify, analyze and resolve potential business risks, as well as opportunities and solutions to enhance business performance.
  • Implement improvements, drive change, raise standards through the direct and indirect management of staff.

Financial Governance

  • Manage the accuracy and integrity of accounting records and financial systems, identify opportunities to enhance system efficiencies
  • Support systems development to maximize efficiency benefits for the Client & GWS.
  • Have thorough knowledge of policies, procedures and manage compliance of them.
  • Ensure all controllable Balance Sheet accounts are reconciled including intercompany in line with GWS policy.
  • Tightly manage contract governance, demonstrating an in-depth knowledge of the terms and conditions of the contract to ensure that all cost elements are appropriately accounted for.
  • Manage Trade Working Capital to maximize cash and control integrity and segregation of client cash.
  • Participate in monthly business reviews and manage agreed actions.
  • Provide support to Client and CBRE statutory obligations, such as audits.
  • Ensure all geographies are fully compliant with Sarbanes Oxley and SOC1 (Service and Organization Controls Report where applicable).

Financial Reporting and Planning

  • Deliver best in class GWS and Client management information including annual budgets (balance sheet and cash flow plans), monthly management accounts and forecasts including Profit and Loss variance and Balance Sheet commentaries.
  • Provide strategic ad-hoc support, influence and manage any financial analysis as required.
  • Meet Group reporting requirements and deadlines, ensuring this is cascaded to all stakeholders.

Success Measures

Success in this role will be measured through defined targets such as:

  • Achieving Account Plan targets.
  • Forecast accuracy.
  • Achieving all reporting deadlines and requirements.
  • Adhering to all SOX/SOC1 requirements.
  • Adhering to all US GAAP reporting requirements.
  • Assisting Global Finance Director to identify and remediate inefficient process.
  • Minimal attrition to Account finance teams with good succession planning in place.
  • Delivery of robust mechanism to measure, record and ensure compliance with all Contractual obligations.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from a four-year college or university in a business-related field.
  • Prefer MBA, CMA, CPA, or other graduate degree in related field (e.g. economics) but not required.
  • Formal leadership training is a plus but not required.
  • Minimum 8-years related experience to include at least 3-years in lead or managerial capacity.
  • Worked in a complex multinational with hands on experience of managing geographically diverse teams.
  • Track record of achieving results through others.
  • Proven commercial acumen and ability to contribute to decision-making.
  • Management skills to maximize the performance of staff working directly for them and others.
