Financial Analyst

TealBook is looking for a talented and dynamic Financial Analyst to join our Finance team. Reporting to the Director of Finance, this hybrid role will focus on end-to-end accounting expertise with financial planning and analysis. Other responsibilities include cost optimization, payroll and benefits administration, financial reporting, and tax compliance.

The right candidate should have experience working in a detail-oriented role with a strategic mindset to provide financial insights, analysis, and support to drive decision-making across the organization. The candidate should also enjoy a fast-paced environment and thrive under ambiguity.

The Impact You Will Have

Financial Reporting and Analysis:

  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
  • Conduct variance analyses to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for management.
  • Assist in the preparation of stakeholder reporting packages, including presentations and KPI visuals.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Collaborate with departments to develop financial assumptions for annual budgets and operating forecasts.
  • Preparation of budget vs actual analyses, investigating variances, providing explanations, and making adjustments where necessary.
  • Ensure the proper and timely invoicing of all receivables. Management of the accounts receivable subledger and collection for all overdue accounts. 
  • Support the Director of Finance in the development of revenue models, expenses, and cash flows.

Cost Analysis and Optimization:

  • Analyze cost drivers and trends to identify opportunities for cost reduction, eliminate redundancies, and process improvement.
  • Work closely with operational teams to develop and implement strategies to optimize resource allocation and improve efficiency.

Full-Cycle Accounting:

  • Assist with month-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals
  • Administer semi-monthly payroll, payroll reconciliation, and variance analysis, and payroll taxes across various geographic locations.
  • Ensure tax compliance with relevant authorities (sales and excise, payroll)
  • Quarterly commission calculation and reporting to stakeholders
  • Assist with year-end working papers and financial audit

What Are We Looking For?

  • 3+ years experience in Finance, preferably in the Technology sector
  • CPA designation or working towards completion
  • Strong knowledge of ASPE and IFRS
  • High-level attention to detail
  • Self-starter and able to work independently
  • Ability to navigate and prioritize multiple deadlines
  • Working knowledge of QuickBooks or similar accounting software
