Made Media designs and produces creative digital solutions for world-leading brands in the arts, culture, and entertainment space. We enable our clients to connect with the world; sharing their ideas, events, and passions with as many people as possible.
Front End Developers at Made Media work as a part of our Design team to build beautiful, accessible, cutting edge websites and digital applications for world-leading brands in the arts, culture, and entertainment space. They are responsible for the creation and application of design systems using HTML, CSS and JavaScript. They have an innate understanding and appreciation of design, typography, system based design and an ability to think conceptually and code pragmatically. We think of our Front End Developers as programmers who design with code. Applicants could come from a design or programming background but should be equally comfortable operating and communicating in either field.
What You’ll Do
- Craft responsive, standards compliant, HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
- Design for technical feasibility and user experience.
- Work closely with Designers and Developers.
- Evolve design systems in code and make informed design decisions.
- Implement animations and interactions.
- Build and manage pattern libraries, installing required modules/dependencies and creating necessary build processes.
- Construct clean and organised creative deliverables that adhere to style guidelines.
- Collaborate with designers and CMS developers to create the most compelling and successful products possible.
Requirements
Essentials
The successful candidate is likely to have most of the following:
- 2+ years Digital agency or relevant in-house experience as a Front End Designer/Developer or similar role.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating a passion for conceptual thinking, elegant code, and skills in visual communication.
- Experience working with and building modular design systems.
- A solid understanding of accessibility standards and best practices.
- A strong understanding of layout, typography and hierarchy
- The ability to both work autonomously and as part of a team.
- An ability to self-motivate and work remotely.
- Well-developed communication skills including an ability to articulate and present thoughts and ideas.
- A solid working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, including Adobe XD, Photoshop and Illustrator.
- A clear understanding of version control and being able to successfully branch and merge your work. We use Git.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Excellent analysis and trouble-shooting skills.
- Great attention to detail.
- Great organisational skills.
Desirable Skills
The successful candidate is likely to have at least one of the following:
- Experience working in an agency environment.
- Experience working with arts, cultural, or entertainment brands.
- Experience presenting and communicating work to clients.

- Salary: £28-40k per year, dependent on experience. We are a remote company and set salaries based on a national benchmark. We will pay a market enhancement for new employees located in specific cities (please see below).

Made Media is a remote business and our team all work from home most of the time.
We have allowances available to help you get settled into a home office, or to make use of local coworking/shared office spaces if you prefer. If you work from home, you should be able to create a suitable working environment, with a quiet space to work and join video meetings, and a reliable internet connection.
Our remote model also means we set salaries according to a national rate. We will agree a base rate for the job, based on experience, and reflective of the salary range provided in the job description. Employees who are hired in specific cities are also eligible for market adjustments, for the time that they live within the city limits. These market adjustments are as follows:
+20% market adjustment: New York City, San Francisco
+10% market adjustment: London (UK), Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Seattle, Washington D.C.
