GCP Cloud Architect - Digital Velocity
As part of CDW’s Digital Velocity (DV) organization, Cloud Architects engage with clients and internal teams to provide automated, cloud-native pattern solutions primarily to the public cloud service provider, GCP. The individual in this role is expected to be a thought-leader in the areas of technical solutions provided for our customers.
Key areas of responsibility
- Provide billable professional consulting services to CDW’s clients on Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Architect and lead cloud engineering delivery teams
- Engineer best practice Infrastructure as Code (IaC) automation solutions for customers leveraging technologies, including, but not limited to, HashiCorp Terraform and Ansible
- Engineer automation solutions with Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, etc.
- Operate as part of a team leveraging agile and scrum methodologies
- Aggregate oversight of technical solutions across multiple projects to ensure synergy in our approach and broad visibility to the Solutions Delivery team
- Works closely with the DV Pre-Sales team for cohesive technical solution approaches focused on bridging the gap between sales and delivery
- Focuses on technical standardization and opinionated approaches for client solutions
- Provide workshops and training events for customers and industry leaders on emerging technologies in GCP
- Assists with technical screening for new candidate interviews
- Train and mentor engineers to take on Cloud and DevOps projects
- Review Statements of Work (SOW) for Cloud projects
- Meet training and certification requirements (GCP, HashiCorp, CKA, Etc.)
- Helping CDW develop and mature our Cloud Engineering practice in response to client needs and market demand
- Travel estimate is 15%
- Internal projects when applicable
Education and/or Experience qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience in deployment of private/public cloud solutions
- Knowledge and skill level in identified competencies needed to meet minimum requirements of the role
- Direct customer consulting experience or equivalent understanding of role responsibilities
Required qualifications
- Highly proficient in GCP
- Proficient in Terraform or Ansible
- Proficient in Kubernetes design and implementation
- Experience with agile development
- Ability to speak to the business value of public cloud solutions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as role must be able to lead client facing conversations to drive success in consulting engagements
- Interpersonal skills, including the ability to mentor and guide engineering
- Ability to organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology
- Ability to multitask, organize, and prioritize
- Ability to understand and deliver on complex user requirements
Preferred qualifications
- GCP Professional certifications
- Other cloud platform certifications
- HashiCorp certifications
- Experience with multi-cloud and on-prem hybrid solutions
- Additional technology areas and experience: cloud platform-specific automation tooling, additional scripting languages, additional software development languages, data flow, networking, and security experience
- Previous consulting experience
