About us

Peers.net is a new mental health support network designed for GenZ, by GenZ.

We’re on a mission to grow the mental health workforce with certified peer supporters to make affordable and timely health care accessible to everyone.

On Peers.net, young adults (18-30) can find and select supporters based on their preferences (life experiences, identity, gender, ethnicity and more) and book confidential video sessions with someone who has actually been in their shoes, and thus understands what they're going through. Our highly diverse team of peer supporters has been professionally trained to provide emotional support, teach coping skills, and share their knowledge and own life experiences. They are also coached and supervised by experts, and know how to get more help if and when needed.

What you’ll do in this role

In this role, you’ll work closely with our marketing team to help build, bring to life and push forward a new GenZ-first mental health brand. You’ll have the opportunity to flex your design skills across multiple projects and executions, both online and offline, to create awareness and excitement around “peer support” as a new, unique and valuable tool in young people’s mental health arsenal – and ultimately help drive more people to our platform to more easily access the support they need.

Core Responsibilities

  • Help develop, in collaboration with the marketing team, a full-fledged brand aesthetic that deeply resonates with our Gen Z audience by building, evolving and expanding upon the current foundations.
  • Support the creation of a truly inclusive, diverse and engaging Visual Identity across both traditional & digital media (ie. drawings, illustrations, animation, photography…), both by directly designing the assets as well as collaborating with / helping curate a wider collective of GenZ creative minds and artists
  • Design and produce collateral for on-campus events and offline activations, including but not limited to: flyers, posters, stickers, apparel, totes, mugs and more.
  • Design and produce visual assets for our online presence (website, digital ads, video, social posts), including supporting our newly hired Social Media Manager as needed on our focus channels (TikTok, Instagram)
  • Ensure designs are completed quickly to allow for feedback and iteration cycles.
  • Work with vendors to gather quotes and assist with the proofing process where relevant

Key qualifications

  • Student (or new grad) majoring in design, visual design, advertising, marketing, graphic design, product design, or design studies.
  • Design portfolio that highlights the work you’ve done. Previous relevant project/work experience is a welcome plus.
  • Experiencing using Figma (or a similar design strategy software)
  • Passion for mental health and using technology to solve big problems.
  • Creative and forward thinker. Consistently aware of current trends and willing to try different approaches, learn and iterate quickly, and open to feedback.
  • Ability to effectively convey messages and drive action through design, with a penchant for combining imagery and words in unexpected ways
  • Thrive in uncertainty, able to adapt to changing priorities of an early startup environment
  • Detail oriented and self organized.
  • Ability to work independently with the confidence to ask for help.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

How we work

We are an early stage startup and a global, distributed, remote-first company. This means you can work from anywhere with a good internet connection, and we occasionally meet up face to face for onsite gatherings. Our environment is best suited to people who want to shape their own role rather than be prescribed exactly what to do, who are willing to roll their sleeves up to get things done, even if it’s not part of their job description. We’re looking for people who think creatively, try different approaches, learn and iterate quickly based on data, who love working in a cross-functional team. If this sounds exciting (and a little scary!), we’d love to hear from you.

Interns enjoy the following benefits:

  • Flexible work location. You can work from anywhere with a good internet connection
  • Flexible work time & time off. We care about you getting the work done, but understand flexibility is sometimes key. We have core working hours for meetings and you will likely have several standing meetings. Work hours outside of meeting times are best discussed with your hiring manager. We do offer flexible time off for FT interns who are with us for a minimum of three months. If your time with us falls on your birthday, we grant you that day as a paid work day - Happy Birthday! We also honor 14 paid public holidays a year, and we close between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day.
  • Attractive hourly rate/salary.
  • Growth opportunities via your role and professional development/training.

Diversity, equity & inclusion at Peers.net, a new mental health service designed by Flourish Labs

At Peers.net we embrace and support differences because it is the right thing to do, makes us a more fun and effective team, and helps us build better products for our users, who are equally diverse. We are building our products and our company with people who have lived experience of mental health challenges, themselves and/or as a caregiver to others. We are committed to hiring talent with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences, and enabling them to flourish at our company by ensuring everyone has a voice and opportunity to succeed. We especially encourage members of traditionally underrepresented communities to apply, including women, people of color, LGBTQ+ people, veterans, and people with disabilities.

Equal opportunity statement: We are an equal opportunity employer. If we hire you, it will be based solely on your merit and qualifications directly related to professional competence. We do not discriminate against any employee or applicant because of race, creed, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, national origin, disability, age, genetic information, veteran status, marital status, pregnancy or related condition (including breastfeeding), or any other basis protected by law. We also consider qualified applicants regardless of criminal histories, consistent with legal requirements.
