About the role

The Head of Credit Risk Analytics is responsible for leading the credit risk management function of our SME lending product. You are expected to leverage your experience in credit risk and quantitative data models and analytics to continually improve our credit underwriting system. 

You will lead our efforts in leveraging our customer and transaction data and use data analytics to make informed, data-driven credit decisions. You will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of credit risk models and rulesets using insights from the data to optimize our credit strategies, and ensuring the continuous improvement of credit processes. 

This role requires leadership, experience and technical expertise to enhance the performance of our credit portfolio while managing risk effectively.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead the design, execution and constant optimisation of data-driven credit decision strategies to support growth and portfolio performance
  • Proficiency in evaluating customers' creditworthiness by leveraging various data sources and predictive analytics to establish credit limits that promote growth while minimizing risk.
  • Proficient in tracking and analyzing credit loss indicators, identifying emerging trends, and using this to enhance credit risk strategies to optimize approval rates, portfolio growth, and loss performance
  • Expertise in utilizing data analytical tools, including statistical and ML frameworks, for credit risk assessment and credit fraud detection and prevention
  • Cohort analysis of the credit portfolio across various variables including but not limited to business type, location, disbursement date, presence or absence of credit history etc. to identify any predictive data points that could further improve our credit decisioning
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and regulatory developments, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Perform all other credit risk related functions as may be assigned by a supervisor

Requirements

  • A minimum of a B.Sc/H.ND in any business related discipline
  • A minimum of 7 years experience in lending in credit risk management or credit portfolio management
  • Demonstrable knowledge of data driven credit risk analytics and credit monitoring
  • Deep understanding of data analytical tools such as SQL & Python
  • Experience in lending in the Nigerian market is an added advantage
