Role description

MarketerHire is looking for a results-driven Head of Content with SEO experience and an entrepreneurial spirit to build our editorial and content team and strategy. MarketerHire is the #1 talent platform for hiring high-caliber freelance marketers — and our mission is to make expert marketing accessible to all.

Today’s marketing landscape requires fast-changing professional agility and knowledge across a variety of channels and capabilities — from email and paid search to SEO and much more. MarketerHire is expanding its content program and aims to be the go-to resource for marketers, founders, and other professionals to learn and keep up to date with the latest practices.

The ideal candidate has strong content strategy, editing, communication and project management skills, with demonstrated experience building teams. You’re a self-starter with a sharp eye for detail and enthusiasm for meeting production and output goals while maintaining high editorial standards in a startup environment.

Responsibilities

  • [Build team and function] Build and scale a best-in-class team of marketing experts, freelance writers, and copy editors that produces high-quality content on a wide range of marketing topics
  • [Direct content strategy] Own and manage MarketerHire’s ever-evolving editorial content library and calendar and ensure we are producing high-quality content across all major fields of marketing
  • [Manage ongoing team and work] Working closely with freelance writers and marketing experts, assign, iterate, and edit compelling content that aligns with our mission, editorial standards, SEO best practices, and traffic and engagement goals.
  • [Build processes]
  • Develop editorial procedures, standards and style guides; ensure all content meets AP style requirements
  • Leverage traffic and engagement data to improve the ways we use and deliver content and advice
  • Ensure content consistently not only meets the needs of our users but empowers them to make decisions and take action

Experience

  • 8+ years relevant work experience
  • Demonstrated success leading content teams, ideally from companies where SEO was a top channel
  • Strong proficiency in today’s key marketing practices, channels and concepts
  • Well-versed in SEO concepts and best practices
  • Ability to work collaboratively with writers, marketing practitioners, contractors, and cross-team stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience editing for news outlets or online publications under tight deadlines
  • Experience with AP and in-house style guides; Bonus points for newsroom and startup experience
  • This role will be fully remote
