Head of Design

Salary: 7000 - 10000 Euro/net per month

Surfer is driven to continue delivering the next big thing in SEO, and we're looking for a Head of Design to help us achieve this mission. The new Head of Design will lead a team of skilled thinkers and doers, bringing a mix of product and brand expertise and business acumen to the role. We're looking for an experienced people manager with a solid background in SaaS product design. Our aim is to take our creative output to a new level as we continue to grow.
In this role, you will:
- continue building and lead the best product design team with a strong vision
- be the team’s advocate, by mentoring, coaching, and inspiring the team to grow
- stay on top of current design trends, processes, and best practices
- understand and propagate ways of building products according to the Continuous Discovery process, while considering tradeoffs of going by the book
- make sure the best designers are aware that Surfer is the best place to be
- know when to research and when not to, when to test and when to skip it
Job requirements
The ideal candidate should be:
- experienced as Head of Design in the SaaS-product environment
- excellent communicator, with the ability to share criticism, own opinion, and ideas
- aware of tradeoffs between business, engineering, and design in a product-building context and knowing how to navigate them
- a people-first, compassionate, charismatic leader
- proactive, willing to change the world around to achieve the goals of the company and your team
