Description

DISCO is the industry standard for managing, organising and sharing music and other media. We make music and media workflow fast, intuitive and simple, directly connecting people and their work to save time. Today we count UMG, Sony, Warner Music, Netflix and Amazon among our customers, and over 250,000 people interact with DISCO each month. Our customers are super passionate about our product, and so are we.

We are just getting started, and the future could not be more exciting. We’re now growing our team as we transition from a smaller start-up into the next phase of our journey, and that means that we're looking for A-list talent who will have a meaningful impact, solve new challenges, and take ownership of the future of DISCO. If this is you, apply and join our team!

The role

This is an incredible opportunity for an experienced finance professional with experience working in a SaaS start-up environment to own and manage the finance function at DISCO as a 'department of one' (but with the support of our bookkeepers and sister company's CFO of course!). This is a genuine opportunity for a detail-orientated, self-starter to become an influential member of our team as we move into our next stage of growth, and work with our executive team to drive our financial strategy.

In this role, you will:

  • Work as a ‘department of one’ initially, whilst receiving support from our bookkeepers and our sister company’s CFO.
  • Develop and implement financial strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure the financial health and stability of the organization.
  • Monitor and analyze financial performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, P&L and financial reporting (experience using Mosaic is a plus)
  • Establish and maintain financial controls and procedures to ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations
  • Oversee payroll, expenses and tax compliance, and liaise with external service partners.
  • Advise and support the company with respect to sales tax requirements that come with SaaS ( federal/state/local)
  • Provide strategic insights to senior leadership on financial performance and opportunities for growth
  • Lead the development of financial metrics and KPIs to drive performance management and improve decision-making
  • Develop and implement financial strategies that optimise company spend and support business goals
  • Attend to the preparation of monthly Management and Board reports

Requirements

Please note - this is a remote role, but candidates must be located in and have the right to work in the USA.

DISCO’s headquarters are in Melbourne, Australia, so depending on what US timezone the successful candidate is in, they will need to be flexible to work later days/some evenings in order to cross over with Australia.

Ideally, the successful candidate will have 8+ years of experience working in a SaaS startup at series A/B level. Additionally, the candidate will have:

  • Experience in a SaaS tech start-up
  • A qualification in accounting or finance
  • Proven experience as a 'finance department of one' in a SaaS start-up
  • Experience leading finance through Series A/B+
  • A strong understanding of B2B SaaS business models, recurring revenue recognition, unit economics, and key SaaS metrics (e.g., MRR, ARR, CAC, LTV).
  • Experience working with financial software systems such as Xero, Mosaic and/or Rippling
  • A high level of attention to detail
  • Experience managing payroll, including benefits management.
  • Proven ability to successfully manage and optimise costs with key stakeholders across a growing organization
  • The ability to comfortably navigate the US income and sales tax requirements that apply to SaaS (federal/state/local)
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement financial strategies that support business goals
  • Experience creating and delivering board reports

If you are a highly motivated individual with a passion for finance and a desire to drive the financial success of our organization, we encourage you to apply. Maybe you’re an experienced CFO wanting more flexibility, or a current Head of Finance looking to take on new challenges – either way, we encourage you to apply if you feel that you’re the right fit for us.
