Head of Product Operations

GovOS is seeking a result oriented and hands on program management leader to manage the operations for engineering and product teams with both onshore and offshore engineers, a total of ~100 individuals. The ideal leader will be able to think strategically, but also is hands on operator who possesses the ability to perform tactical operational activities on a day-to-day basis. This role, reporting into the Chief Product Officer, who oversees both product and engineering, is a critical role in bringing the uniformity in processes across the product and engineering organizations, implementing SDLC process that brings the other departments into SDLC process, create tools to measure metrics of the organization, and report metrics periodically to the upper management.

Responsibilities

  • Bring thought leadership to the organization in terms of best practices for a well-run SDLC process and get the buy in from all parts of the organization
  • Understand and ensure different time bound activities take place for a well-integrated SDLC process
  • Implement tools and technologies required to measure the success of the team and report it back to the organization
  • Identify problem areas and help correct them by collaborating with the team that needs to take action
  • Report metrics on different aspects of the operations – productivity, quality, backlog trends, SLA trends etc. to the management team and make recommendations for change
  • Be the glue to bring different product/engineering teams that are built on different technology stack into one operational umbrella that makes them operate uniformly

Qualifications

  • Experience leading product operations in a hands-on mode for an organization of similar size or larger
  • 5-10 years of experience in an organization that delivers SaaS platform with multiple applications
  • A communicative, inclusive personality that can work with diverse team of engineering and product leaders
  • A culture builder who is able to motivate the entire organization under the operational goals by celebrating success and mentoring when gap exists
  • In-depth understanding of tools such as JIRA, Salesforce, Excel, Git that are required for implementing the SDLC process and measuring metrics.
  • In-depth understanding of the operational metrics required to measure the success of the product/engineering teams
  • Excellent written English and asynchronous communication skills
  • Experience in distilling the data into compelling presentation and presenting information to the organization
  • Ability to make tradeoffs when conflicts arise between time, resource and scope and help guide the team in the right direction

Nice to have

  • Experience in GovTech space, having worked in a company serving the government space
  • Experience with JIRA Align
  • Experience working with distributed/remote first teams
