Infrastructure Software Engineer
As a Software Engineer on our Infrastructure team, you will be responsible for developing, managing, and optimizing the fundamental building blocks of our platform, including Kubernetes, networking, and surrounding infrastructure. You'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the stability, scalability, and security of our microservices-based architecture.

What You’ll Do
- Bootstrap Kubernetes clusters by setting up essential networking components, such as VPC, load balancers, and firewalls, to ensure secure and efficient cluster operation.
- Build and maintain container images using Linux, Packer, and Docker to support our nodes and pods.
- Install and configure core services, including CNI, Karpenter, Service Mesh, and Kafka, to facilitate node, pod, and service communication as well as autoscaling.
- Create and manage AWS resources like RDS, DynamoDB, S3, IAM, OpenSearch, and more as required by our internal microservices.
- Continuously develop, maintain, and enhance the reliability of the above infrastructure components.
What You’ll Need
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Strong enthusiasm for:
- Infrastructure, Kubernetes, and containerization technologies.
- Linux, Packer, and Docker for building and managing container images.
- Networking principles and cloud infrastructure (AWS experience is a plus).
- Core networking components like VPCs, load balancers, and firewalls.
- Critical Kubernetes components such as CNI, Service Mesh, Karpenter, and Kafka.
- Designing, developing, and maintaining infrastructure components at scale.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to ensuring system reliability.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively within a cross-functional team.
- Enjoy the convenience of working remotely, all while staying seamlessly connected. You'll need reliable internet access to stay productive when you're not in a Workiva office, giving you the freedom to work where you're most comfortable.
How You’ll Be Rewarded:
Salary range in the US: $79,000.00 - $134,000.00
- A discretionary bonus typically paid annually
- Restricted Stock Units granted at time of hire
- 401(k) match and comprehensive employee benefits package
The salary range represents the low and high end of the salary range for this job in the US. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience and other relevant factors.
