IT Communications Specialist

This is a remote position that could be based anywhere in the United States or Canada.

IT is looking for a passionate advocate for technology who will learn, teach, and establish a dialog with our colleagues to gather feedback, and help mature, improve, and enhance our user experience.

The primary responsibilities for this role will be to convey internal messaging related to Information Technology (IT) as well as create, conduct, and facilitate technology training for Calix employees. This includes but is not limited to marketing efforts, such as the release of new software or technology upgrades, technical incidents, problems, outages, and user tips. Additionally, the IT Communications specialist will be responsible for creating and maintaining user documentation processes and content. This role requires the ability to draft and compose messages which may provide complex technical concepts in an easy-to-understand format for audiences that may be non-technical. Hosting live training events, recording instructional videos, and writing how-tos and best practices.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Develop a prioritized training plan for Calix employees which includes measurable expectations for outcomes in improved productivity, awareness, and user experience.

Use a variety of tools and technology platforms to develop user learning forums and create training content, such as written training instructions and short How-To videos.

Create and maintain continuous improvement of IT documentation process.

Create and maintain user documentation content using Confluence.

Participate in project planning; work with project managers to help develop proper communications and timelines.

Create standards such as format and cadence for IT communications to Calix users.

Communicate and collaborate frequently with end users as well as global support teams to gather feedback and identify improvement opportunities.

Use ticketing trends to identify learning and training opportunities.

Highlight technologies and services available to create awareness and excitement

Provide a high level of customer service while supporting Calix team members in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications:

Post-secondary education in communications or related experience.

Background or degree in information technology.

Minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role.

Experience in working with teams.

Experience using Confluence.

Experience creating training videos and documentation.

Strong working knowledge of enterprise collaboration tools such as Microsoft. Teams, Zoom, SharePoint, OneDrive, Chatter, Jira, and Slack.
