Upwork is searching for a Manager of IT Sox Compliance to join its Sox Compliance and Internal Audit team and assist in the successful execution of Upwork’s Sox program. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated team player capable of overseeing IT general control and application control compliance walkthroughs and testing. This is a remote full-time position and will report directly to the Sr. Director of Sox Compliance and Internal Audit.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Plan, scope, oversee, and manage the SOX IT general control and application control testing from design assessments, operating effectiveness and evaluation of control issues that may be identified to meet the Company’s SOX requirements
  • Supervise the performance of the 3rd party service provider to ensure timely and quality results for the program
  • Actively liaison with external IT audit team to assess and resolve IT audit matters 
  • Identify opportunities, provide recommendations, and gain stakeholder agreement on root cause of issues and appropriate corrective actions 
  • Review and assess new proposed IT changes at a holistic level to ensure a comprehensive end-to-end evaluation of financial risk landscape is considered and influence to ensure adequate controls are in place to minimize exposures for the Company
  • Develop collaborative relationships with business and IT stakeholders
  • Leverage technology in order to rationalize or automate control activities 
  • Oversee the review and documentation of service provider SOC reports

What it takes to catch our eye:

  • Big 4 Accounting firm and/or internet/technology/marketplace industry experience
  • CPA, ,CA, CIA, and / or CISA certifications 
  • Experience with Oracle R12 / Cloud and / or homegrown platform systems
  • Past experience as an advisory/internal auditor or similar function is ideal 
  • Experience with ERP implementations

The annual base salary for this position in California and Washington ranges from $99,250 - $150,000. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum salary for this position in California and Washington, and individual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Additionally, this position is eligible for the annual bonus plan or sales incentive plan and eligibility to participate in our long term equity incentive program.
