POSITION SUMMARY

The Junior Accountant will report to the Assistant Controller and will manage the accounts payable process and assist the Finance team in daily tasks. This organization has a strong leadership team who is devoted to developing and training their staff. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Accounts Payable – Code all new invoices and enter into system

Review all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment

Prioritize invoices according to cash discount potential and payment terms

Maintain AP schedule and process check requests

Audit and process credit card bills

Review, maintain and record daily transactions including: automatic payments and matching collections to outstanding customer invoices.

Review and record customer collections

1099 maintenance

Respond to all vendor inquiries

Reconcile vendor statements, research and correct discrepancies

Assist in month end closing

Prepare month end accrual tracking

Review, respond and reconcile employee expense submissions in accordance to company T&E policy

Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices

Assist with annual audit

Assist with other projects as needed

Aid with filing

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or completed courses in Financial Accounting.

Great knowledge of Accounting basics, such as debits & credits, and how transactions flow through the Income Statement and Balance Sheet

NetSuite experience is a plus

Proficient in Excel

Must be organized and good at record-keeping.

Ability to learn and master new software and productivity tools

Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Attention to detail and ability to develop accurate records and documentation.

Teamwork while also being able to work independently.

Timeliness and ability to manage multiple ongoing tasks.

$55,000 - $60,000 a year
