Junior Graphic Designer
JOB SUMMARY
The primary function of this role is to support the Head of Marketing and Graphics Manager. The Junior Graphic Designer will (via their manager) collaborate with the project teams and directors to produce print and digital material and ensure the graphic language is consistent throughout all deliverables. This may include (but is not limited to) books, brochures, PowerPoint presentations, presentation boards, award submittals, websites / digital media, video editing as well as marketing and public relations collateral.
The ideal candidate will understand the various production processes, be able to coordinate with external parties (be they clients, suppliers, or service providers), and be able to manage multiple projects within tight deadlines. They must be able to demonstrate expert knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro as well as Lightroom.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintains Graphics for the company websites
- Conceptualise, produce, and maintain e-mail templates / campaigns
- Be able to manage print related tasks
- Produce Company related stationery
- Maintain brand consistency
- Assist Senior Graphic Designer with the design and production of all promotional material, including but not limited to books, brochures, digital presentations, presentation boards, award submittals, websites / digital media, stationery, window signage, Architectural Project Boards etc. and assist with the production of print related marketing material.
- Image Editing including Photo Editing in Lightroom and Photoshop as well as resizing and optimising of Images and PDFs for use in different applications (e.g., Web, Presentations, High Resolution requirements.
- Video Editing including Filing and Catalogue video and audio clips, basic entry level video editing and on shoot assistance.
- Magazine Advertising and Feature layouts
- Website and Social Media knowledge and relevant editing skills as per established guidelines and procedures
- Corporate Identity Content and Artwork
- Assist the Senior Graphic Designer, in adhering to and improving established templates and design guidelines (Thorough knowledge of and compliance with all SAOTA procedures and standards)
- Research and reference imagery applicable to the subject
- Ongoing desire to stay updated on latest graphics, architecture and design trends and technology
- Filing, and where necessary scanning, of project related documentation encompassing correspondence, drawings, and project information files
- Able to work within a structured document management system and be accountable for upholding that system
- Contribute, or otherwise assist as required to provide project teams with a full Graphic/Repro service covering both presentation and contractual material
KEY REQUIREMENTS
- Diploma in Visual Design essential
- Excellent Repro knowledge
- Keen eye for graphics and design
- Ability to accurately understand and interpret instructions.
- Possess sound knowledge of graphic design methods, typography, and the general principles of layout and design.
- Understanding of the production process, including applications of different file formats
- Software Skills must include the latest Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator Premiere Pro, Lightroom), and the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
- The ability to learn and demonstrate creative problem-solving skills
- Able to set and achieve deadlines and give regular updates on progress
- Able to build good relationships at all levels both internally and externally
- Team player
