The Role
Maintaining the security and privacy of our users is paramount to Modern Health’s mission. As a member of the security team, you will have organization-wide visibility to continuously support and monitor our commitment to security, privacy, and compliance.
We are looking for a Junior Security Engineer to join a small but mighty team to work in all aspects of information security at Modern Health. There is plenty of room for growth and opportunities to work in multiple areas of security (Cloud, Product, IT, GRC, etc.) to help Modern Health achieve its mission. Best of all, no security engineering experience is required! We are specifically looking for entry level folks who are passionate about cyber security, have limited professional work experience (or have just graduated from college or a cyber security bootcamp), have a general knowledge of at least one area of cyber security, and who are excited about helping Modern Health advance its mission.
This position is not eligible to be performed in Hawaii.
What You’ll Do
In this role, you will get to help mature Modern Health’s security, compliance, and privacy controls in a variety of ways. As a member of the team, you will do things like:
- Work with best-in-class Security tooling (WAF, SAST, Access Management Platform, etc.)
- Manage vulnerability scanning tools and working with owning teams to remediate findings
- Automate internal security and compliance processes
- Work with teams across the company to give guidance on security best practices
- Assist Modern Health in its SOC 2 compliance audits
- Help implement cloud security and cloud infrastructure best practices in AWS
- Report on and research solutions to possible threats or software issues
- Work with engineering teams to design products and software that are inherently secure

- Someone who is passionate about learning
- An entry-level skill set and understanding of technical topics like software development, scripting, cloud security, IT security, incident response, etc. (If you have a GitHub repo or other relevant technical projects you have worked on, please provide a link to them)
- Ability to communicate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders across the company
- BS/BA degree or equivalent years of experience, or proof of general technical or security knowledge (Comp TIA Security+, CEH, AWS Certified Security Specialist, AWS Solutions Architect Associate, or equivalent)
- 1 to 2 years of professional work experience of some kind (not necessarily security or compliance related)
