LatAm Senior DevOps Engineer (Terraform/AWS)

Our team is growing, and we are looking for a skilled Terraform/AWS Engineer to help us design, deploy, and maintain cloud infrastructure. We're open to any location because this is a fully remote role and our engineering team is in the US and LatAm.

As a Terraform/AWS Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and automating our cloud infrastructure. You will collaborate with the development team to ensure our infrastructure is scalable, reliable, and secure. This role will play a key part in our DevOps practices, focusing on Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, container orchestration with Docker Swarm and upgrading to Kubernetes, and cloud services management on AWS.

You’ll work closely with our CTO, Engineering Managers and Directors of Product. Our three founders have successfully built VC-backed companies with exits to Allstate, Groupon and Ford (including the world's largest consumer electronics warranty company in the world). You'll also collaborate with product leaders with 40+ years building world-class companies spanning technology and insurance like Apple and Allstate.

We're working on tough, technical challenges to change the way consumers buy insurance, starting with the $311 billion car insurance market. Expect to tackle a healthy mix of modern, best-in-class user experience as well as back-end data workflows and integrations. This role is a unique opportunity to join as one of the first 100 employees of a rapidly scaling startup.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with our CTO, Engineering Managers and Directors of Product
  • Design, implement, and manage scalable infrastructure on AWS using Terraform.
  • Develop and maintain Kubernetes clusters for application deployment and management.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and application deployment processes.
  • Collaborate with engineering team to improve CI/CD pipelines and ensure efficient deployment strategies.
  • Monitor and optimize cloud infrastructure performance, security, and cost-efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with security best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure-related issues in production environments.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to other team members on Terraform, Kubernetes, and AWS best practices.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience with Terraform for infrastructure automation and management.
  • 3+ years of experience with container orchestration (Kubernetes/Docker Swarm).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC).
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation tasks.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g., Github Actions, GitLab CI, CircleCI).
  • Solid understanding of networking, security, and best practices in a cloud environment.
  • Bonus if experienced with our stack: Python, React and Typescript
  • Bonus for B.S., M.S. or PhD. in Computer Science or equivalent
  • Bonus for experience in a seed-stage, high-growth startup

Qualifications

  • AWS certification (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer).
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Cloudwatch).
  • Familiarity with Docker and containerization concepts.
  • Experience in a DevOps or SRE role.
