Our Lead/Principal Product Designer is responsible for delivering the best online user experience, which makes your role extremely important for our success and ensuring customer satisfaction and loyalty. You will be developing ideas using various methods and the latest technology to design graphic user interfaces.

The fundamentals for the job…

  • Provide leadership, direction, and mentorship for a team of Product Designers.
  • Lead creative and holistic thinking across diverse product releases, platforms, and devices on key projects and initiatives as well as practice improvement across the design function (co-owning design strategy.)
  • Own group-wide customer experience and associated design strategy.
  • Deliver a UX vision, along with a plan for evolutionary, iterative updates, that actualize the larger vision over time by defining and driving UX strategy and the design North Star for the product group.
  • Responsible for the development of UX strategy, user journeys, and innovative user experiences across a wide variety of channels and digital platforms at a portfolio level.
  • Inform the product design roadmap (problems to solve) and assist in validation of big bets (opportunities.)
  • Build strong relationships and operating rhythms with leaders inside and outside of the core product team to efficiently implement user experiences that are cohesive, inclusive, and well-informed. Partner with product management leadership to drive a program of discovery, exploration, and validation to shape group-level initiatives.
  • Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders to understand requirements, and provide creative, thoughtful solutions.
  • Implement culture and principles within the group, while setting new standards in executional and operational excellence.
  • Advocate for users in a fast-paced regulated environment, imparting day-to-day leadership that fosters a shared understanding if the user-centric interaction between design, content, business, and engineering.
  • Raise the bar on our user experience through quantitative and qualitative metrics.
  • Deliver complete UX and visual design frameworks with deliverables including prototypes, proof of concept documents, wire frames, site architecture, user flows, use cases, and user scenarios.
  • Leverage insights (quantitative and qualitative) to inform product design’s vision, strategy, and long-term roadmap by conducting interviews, competitive research, design explorations, and strategic analysis.
  • Manage all design aspects of a project from start to finish, own the end-to-end user experience of a project.
  • Accelerate growth and development of a group of product designers by assuming the role of coach/mentor.

What we expect of you:

The bold requirements…

  • Bachelor’s degree in Design (interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), HCI or relevant field or UX certification (in lieu of a degree, equivalent relevant work experience may be considered.)
  • 8+ years of experience as a Product Designer or similar roles.
  • 2+ years of experience in managing or leading design teams in a complex, cross-functional organization.
  • Experience working across organizational boundaries to define, manage and prioritize work, with a collaborative and innovative approach through strategic, conceptual, and creative thinking.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex concepts clearly across different audiences and varying levels of the organization
  • Experience in Agile, Scrum, and Kanban methodologies.
  • Experience with Usability Factors and behavior patterns in human computer interaction / user-centered design in addition to an understanding of user-centered design testing methodologies, usability, and accessibility.
  • Expert level knowledge of UX theories, practices, and procedures - including usability, and accessibility.
  • Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, Web, Mobile, and Responsive design.
  • Ability to work with stakeholders, both external and internal to understand detailed requirements and design complete user experiences that meet user/client needs and vision.
  • Demonstrated ability to iterate on designs and solutions efficiently and intelligently + documentation and presentation of ideas and reasoning behind design decisions.
  • Excellent problem-solving, storytelling skills influencing product decisions through design.
  • Integrate user feedback and business requirements into ongoing product experience refinements and improvement updates.
  • Proficient in either aspects of Craft or Research, along with advanced strategic and leadership skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Nice to haves…

  • Product Design portfolio demonstrating deep level of UX, interaction, and visual design experience.
  • Experience working on custom design systems and pattern libraries.
  • Experience with Jobs-to-be-done, behavior-driven design (BDD), and data-driven design.
  • Experience working with Figma, Miro, Dovetail, Mave, and Axe.
  • Experience with Confluence, Microsoft Project, and Azure Dev Ops.

Physical requirements…

  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
