KOHO, the leading Canadian fintech, is seeking a smart, motivated attorney to help our company grow and scale as we continue to deliver financial products and services that improve the lives of consumers across Canada. You will provide legal guidance on commercial contracts, product development, and regulatory matters. 

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide timely, concise, practical, and actionable legal advice
  • Work closely with our Product team on the development and launch of new products and services
  • Advise on laws and regulations relevant to financial services, consumer protection, marketing, and privacy
  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, including agreements with banking and processing partners
  • Liaise with government authorities, federal and provincial regulators on matters relevant to payments, lending and digital financial services, including OSFI and FINTRAC
  • Draft terms and conditions, cardholder agreements, policies and disclosures
  • Develop and implement processes for efficient operations surrounding contract lifecycle management and legal workflow
  • Provide support to Enterprise and Third-Party Risk Management initiatives
  • Review marketing collateral and customer communications

Who You Are:

  • 4+ years post-qualification experience as a lawyer practicing in Canada (either in-house or at a law firm)
  • Understanding of payments, consumer lending, card issuing and prepaid products
  • Familiarity with consumer protection and financial services regulation
  • Knowledge of emerging and innovative payment technology
  • Contract negotiation and drafting skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

At KOHO, we are dedicated to providing pay transparency to all candidates. Compensation at KOHO is determined through various factors including but not limited to: comparable salary market data within Canada, technical skill assessment, a holistic view of previous work history, and internal pay equity with other KOHO team members.

Target Base Salary Range

$160,000—$220,000 CAD
