As director and lead of Reddit’s Corporate Legal team, you will be responsible for all aspects of Reddit’s compliance with corporate governance laws and regulations in the jurisdictions in which we operate and partner with a multitude of stakeholders to execute on Reddit’s corporate strategy and support our board of directors.

You will be accountable for building and mentoring a world-class team of legal professionals and help provide leadership to the legal team as a whole. You are passionate about process, people development and providing your internal clients with legal service with delight. You will use your drive, experience and proactive approach to make a big impact on Reddit’s rapidly-growing business.

What You’ll Do:

  • Be a strategic, proactive and pragmatic legal partner and collaborator to our Finance, Tax and Audit teams and other internal stakeholders as they plan and execute their roadmap. You'll be the voice of the Legal team to Reddit's executives and c-suite focused on corporate governance and other corporate matters
  • Manage and continually develop a team of legal professionals focused on corporate governance and other corporate matters
  • Be responsible for advising on and directing corporate legal matters, including those relating to corporate governance, public company reporting, investor relations, M&A, International expansion and equity operations
  • Provide legal support and advice regarding disclosure requirements, 34 Act filings, proxy statement and other matters related to SEC regulation
  • Maintain board meeting minutes, organize and manage board meeting materials, and respond to board member requests
  • Design, build and improve legal processes such as playbooks and workflows to keep up with company growth
  • Help lead the legal team, helping organize and lead team meetings, off-sites and trainings. You are always on the lookout for ways to support and up-level Legal team members

What We're Looking For:

  • 12+ years of legal experience post law school, with preferably 8+ years in-house at technology or media companies
  • Deep experience leading the corporate function of an in-house legal department including
  • A "second nature" understanding of regulatory requirements for reporting, registrations, audits, and corporate governance codes
  • Engaging as a proactive legal partner to Finance, Audit, Compliance and other internal risk management departments
  • Experience servicing a company's board of directors and committees, including preparing board materials and minutes
  • Experience with corporate entity formation and management, including supporting international expansions
  • Experience providing legal support for mergers and acquisitions, ventures, investments, and equity operations
  • Experience implementing and leading public company reporting processes (10Qs and 8Ks)
  • 5+ years of experience leading in-house legal teams. you are extremely team oriented and an experienced legal manager in a diverse environment and enjoy motivating and supporting your legal team members. You are committed to DEI and enabling your team members' performance and career growth
  • You have significant experience with presenting to and negotiating with executive level leaders at your company and partner companies
  • You have a stellar reputation for legal acumen, good judgment and thought leadership and regularly interact with c-suite executives in your current role
  • You have very strong soft skills. You have the ability to build strong relationships with executives, legal team members, colleagues and internal stakeholders at all levels of the business. You have a getting to "yes" approach in working with the business.
  • You love process and scale. You look for opportunities to build out processes, policies, playbooks and training in order to make the business and Legal team more effective
  • You enjoy organizing and leading team meetings, off-sites and ensuring Legal team members learn and develop their legal and soft skills
  • JD, current license in a state bar in the United States

This job posting may span more than one career level.

In addition to base salary, this job is eligible to receive equity in the form of restricted stock units, and depending on the position offered, it may also be eligible to receive a commission. We set standard base pay ranges for all roles based on function, level, and country location, benchmarked against similar stage growth companies. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including, skills, depth of work experience and relevant licenses/credentials, and may vary from the amounts listed below.

The base pay range for this position is: $281,300 - $422,000
