Job Description

The Legal Risk Management Director will lead risk management activities on behalf of the legal department, including risk management operations, loss prevention, claims management and mitigation, and risk financing. The Legal Risk Management Director will assist Legal Counsel with the coordination and investigation of claims and implementation of corrective actions. The Legal Risk Management Director will report to the Deputy General Counsel.

Primary Job Duties: 

  • Assist in the investigation and resolution of client, employee, and vendor disputes, including conducting root cause analysis and developing a corrective action plan as applicable
  • Coordinate with internal business teams to investigate circumstances of claims and complaints and, with legal counsel, recommend response
  • Review existing processes and protocols for claim investigation and identify opportunities for process improvement
  • Investigate, and in coordination with counsel, respond to BBB complaints and governmental investigations 
  • Coordinate with outside counsel on ongoing litigation
  • Notify, and coordinate with, insurance carriers (as applicable)
  • Maintain a litigation/dispute log and provide regular status updates to internal stakeholders
  • As part of the company's risk mitigation strategy, regularly review insurance coverages and handle renewal applications
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • At least 3+ years of risk management experience preferably in a hospital or health system. 
  • Healthcare experience is required.
  • Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective, collaborative working relationships. 
  • Detail oriented with good follow through.
  • Skilled at conflict resolution.
  • Ability to assess situations in an objective manner.
  • Strong resiliency and ability to deal with ambiguity.
  • Skilled communicator who expresses ideas clearly and effectively, motivates the listener to action.
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team.
  • Works effectively under pressure and produces results accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Critical thinker with excellent research, analytical, and writing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Must comply with HIPAA rules and regulations.

Colorado, New York, New Jersey, California and Washington Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $90,000.00-$110,000.00 in base pay and exclusive of any bonuses or benefits. The base pay offered will be determined based on relevant factors such as experience, education, and geographic location.
