The Role

Mio is looking for a talented and reliable Devops Engineer to provide hands-on management of our existing AWS cloud environment.

As we continue to enjoy rapid growth, this unique individual will help design, plan, and implement the underlying infrastructure required to support the company during this exciting phase.

Ideally, you would have broad experience in a rapid-growth startup environment and be able to apply your previous experience to help the team make rapid, mature decisions whilst managing the day-to-day running of the Mio application in the AWS cloud.

Working closely with the engineering team, you most likely have an extensive engineering background and have the ability to apply those skills in automation, application performance tuning, and troubleshooting.

Future opportunities to grow and lead within the Mio DevOps team may also open up for the right candidate.

Required Skills

  • Sound knowledge of Linux environments, preferably RedHat derivatives (e.g. AWS Linux).
  • Support existing shell and python scripts.
  • Manage and scale deployed AWS infrastructure.
  • Competently navigate and operate the AWS Console .
  • Run / automate routine tasks such as patch management and vulnerability scanning.
  • Maintain secure access controls and follow a principle of least privilege.
  • Deploy new environments for testing or development.
  • Perform scheduled disaster recovery exercises.
  • Ensure our Infrastructure deployments continue to meet our defined compliance requirements (e.g. SOC 2).

Desired Skills

  • Configuring and monitoring alerting systems in Cloudwatch.
  • Ability to deploy infrastructure using CloudFormation, Terraform, or similar.
  • Maintain and extend existing Ansible scripts.
  • Maintain existing Jenkins deployments.
  • Exposure to containerization packaging and deployment (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Ability to deploy, configure and manage VPC’s, Networks, and Security Groups.
  • Assist engineering in troubleshooting performance bottlenecks.
  • Exposure to alternative cloud platforms is a plus.
  • Familiarity with nginx, php-fpm, AMQ, MySQL, Redis, Elasticache, Redshift, node.js and PM2
