Litigation Attorney
Job description
Protect Democracy seeks highly motivated lawyers to join an existing impact litigation team (or teams) on a contract basis for six months, with the possibility of extension.
The attorneys will work between 20-40 hours a week on substantive litigation tasks such as: drafting discovery motions, creating deposition outlines, drafting third party subpoenas, assisting with the development of expert reports, and drafting legal briefs and memoranda. An ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of civil litigation experience, comfort with some or all of the discovery tasks listed above, and the flexibility to start immediately. We welcome applicants with significantly more experience than the minimum listed, and we are looking for candidates with a strong commitment to our mission of preventing our democracy from declining into a more authoritarian form of government. We will pay an hourly rate of $125-$175 per hour, depending on the candidate’s experience.
Interested candidates should submit a resume and writing sample to hiring@protectdemocracy.org. Protect Democracy recognizes that there is strength in diversity, and strongly encourages candidates from racially and ethnically diverse backgrounds and from across the political and ideological spectrum to apply. We are a remote organization; attorneys can work from any location in the United States as long as they are in compliance with all applicable bar membership rules.
