THE OPPORTUNITY

The Manager - Regulatory Operations position is responsible for supporting the development, execution, and management of regulatory filings and objections for regulatory approval of CAPE insurance products. This role will assist in bringing new and existing CAPE products to successful regulatory approvals and help our clients grow their business.

WITHIN 1 MONTH, YOU’LL:

  • Understand and have a working command of CAPE’s products and data.
  • Identify potential roadblocks for success of regulatory strategy and work with managers to triage a plan to overcome those obstacles.
  • Begin to monitor the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) task forces, working groups, and other committees.

WITHIN 3 MONTHS, YOU’LL:

  • Work with Legal and internal partners to review and draft regulatory filing objections that capture our business and technology needs.
  • Complete regulatory compliance analysis and rulemaking operations, as assigned.
  • Prepare internal materials and resource documents to address technical issues relating to filings, legislation and regulations.

WITHIN 6 MONTHS, YOU’LL:

  • Be able to educate and explain CAPE products and technical details to key stakeholders with a strong command of CAPE’s products and data.
  • Provide thought leadership on objection response strategy and DOI negotiations for each of CAPE’s products.
  • Take ownership of the filing pipeline.
  • Contribute to the overall development of CAPE’s positions on specific P&C insurance sector industry topics, including AI/ML and climate change.

THE SKILL SET

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field (actuarial, mathematics, risk management, engineering, etc.)
  • 4-6 years relevant experience in regulatory management
  • Intellectual curiosity and drive to dive deep into technical concepts.
  • Experience managing a pipeline of filings, SERFF and insurance predictive models.
  • Strong analytical and innovative problem-solving skills are desired.
  • Experience in P&C insurance is required.
  • Strong interest in AI and new technologies that can advance the industry is a plus.
  • Experience building insurance underwriting/pricing models is a plus.
  • Experience with Python, Tableau is a plus.

$120,000 - $165,000 a year

The Regulatory functional area is an operating unit within the Legal Department at CAPE. Our Regulatory professionals are highly committed to cultivating, building, and fostering relationships both internally and externally, and considered to be self-motivated and self-driven individuals who are able to work both independently and collaboratively. Working on this team will require a high degree of cross-collaboration across other functional areas including product, data science, marketing/communications, client success and others as deemed necessary. The Regulatory team is also a central source of critical regulatory, legislative and public policy information and must keep interested stakeholders (internal and external) apprised of the latest developments, including offering impact analysis.
