As a member of the Brand Marketing Team, the Marketing Copywriter is a strategic thinker who will write copy for a variety of projects (including print, web, mobile, video, and social media that supports products). The ideal candidate will possess excellent writing skills and be able to write in a clear and concise manner that is easy for users to understand. An understanding of SEO trends and best practices, keyword research and integration, meta tags, and content structure is a plus. The Marketing Copywriter will work in a highly collaborative way with others on the creative team as well those from Product Marketing, Product Management, and design teams to brainstorm ideas, create concepts, and develop messaging.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Strategic

  • Work closely with internal teams to participate in all stages of the creative process - from brainstorming to conceptual development and formation of the strategy.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with a high-volume workload often requiring short turnaround times.
  • Continually raise the bar on creativity, writing fresh copy that connects with B2B and B2C audiences and drives action.
  • Comfortably vary voice, style, and other characteristics appropriate for the target audience at hand.
  • Stay updated on appropriate style guidelines and brand voice for consistency in messaging.
  • Research and understand the business needs of the organization as well as the partners and members in the network.
  • Interpret creative briefs to develop and produce creative concepts through execution on assigned projects.
  • Stay on top of trends through business/industry monitoring and outside resources. The copywriter should stay informed on the latest industry trends and best practices in SEO, content marketing, and digital marketing.

Tactical

  • Produce written materials in a variety of formats, including print collateral, email, web and interactive content.
  • Ensure written materials are clear, concise and persuasive with a clear message and call to action
  • Understand target audience to translate copy and design into compelling creative messaging.
  • Collaborate with teams from concept development to delivery of final campaign.
  • Present copy concepts and final deliverables to teams.
  • Revise copy based on feedback/direction.
  • Proofread written work and online content.
  • Juggle multiple assignments and work in a high-pressure environment.
  • Manage time and establish priorities while maintaining flexibility to respond to changing demands.
  • Help communicate creative ideas in presentations.

Educational and Skills Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English or a related major
  • 3+ years of relevant experience, preferably with a background on both client-side and with an agency
  • Experience working with luxury brands; experience in travel considered a plus
  • Experience in an environment working with marketing, advertising or PR campaigns, print and social media preferred
  • Experience managing day-to-day changes at every level of detail
  • Possess a well-traveled, worldly point of view
  • Excellent writing and editing skills with demonstrated experience in conceptual writing in marketing or advertising, web, product, brand messaging and promotional copy
  • Strong presentation and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and with a fast-paced team
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Ability to own projects, demonstrate good judgment when working with team members, and take initiative
  • Ability to think strategically and conceptualize creatively
  • Forward thinking, curious, and creative

Travel Requirements:

  • Travel is rarely required for this position (0-1 trips per year)
  • Any travel will be entirely domestic

Type/Nature of Contacts:

  • Internal: Key job contacts are primarily with clerical and technical personnel and managers outside of the role’s direct work unit/department
  • External: There is almost no contact outside of Virtuoso staff. Position is primarily internal facing.
