JOB DESCRIPTION

Key Accountabilities

  1. Provide support to project managers on security/network deployments also suggest and detail design changes as and when needed
  2. Understanding complex technical issues and managing them within a fast-paced business environment
  3. Document planned and unplanned network events in appropriate tracking and turnover systems
  4. Exercises judgment in decision-making to routinely deliver FANATICAL customer support/New hires
  5. Ability to lead the Netsec team in the absence of an immediate manager
  6. Troubleshoot and resolve network events and create event documentation accordingly
  7. Take ownership of level-appropriate customer requests and issues, seeing them through to resolution
  8. Escalate support requests to next level engineers and communicate with Incident Management as appropriate
  9. Implementation of Gateway, Edge firewall and LBs .
  10. Adhere to Change Management and Maintenance policy and process
  11. Participate and provide input to Root Cause Analysis
  12. Review, provide input, and sign off on defined policy and process standards
  13. Excellent problem-solving abilities, coupled with a desire to take on responsibility
  14. Acts as the primary interface for the client or project manager for basic to intermediate projects.
  15. Gathers data for reporting and analysis
  16. Create great first impression Fanatical Support experience by serving customers and setting the correct expectation .
  17. Effectively work with technical peers such as architects, peer experts and project teams on technology road maps and projects .

Key Performance Indicators

  • Ticket Contribution and Phone Availability: Provide correct and helpful expertise to resolve issues, maintaining high ticket evaluations results
  • High level of first pass yield and success on written, quality checked, tested, and executed maintenances
  • Prompt and correct responses to network events
  • Maintain proficiency in troubleshooting, tools, and technologies

Person Specification

  • The Network Security Engineer I has an introductory to intermediate aptitude with:
  • All supported network platforms (Cisco 2900, 3500, 3700, 4900, 6500, ASR1k, ASR9k, Nexus 3k, Nexus 6k, Nexus 7k, Arista 7000, etc…)
  • All supported Layer 2 and 3 protocols and features (STP, HSRP, VLANs, CDP, port-channels, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, DWDM, etc…)
  • In depth knowledge on Firewall – Palo alto , Cisco ASA, Firepower, Juniper, F5 -LTM/AFM, Citrix Load balancers .
  • Must have a good networking background and understanding.
  • Initial firewall/IPS/IDS testing of parameters, operation, support, and commissioning.
  • Knowledge of Analysis of VPNs implementation and Manage and Monitor all VPN connectivity.
  • Working knowledge and hands-on experience on Linux/Unix OS is desirable  

The Network Security Engineer I is

  • Able to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work under pressure
  • Detail-oriented in documenting information and able to own customer issues through resolution
  • Capable of demonstrating sound problem-solving skills coupled with a desire to take on responsibility
  • Passionate about technology and has a desire to expand technical knowledge

The ideal candidate possesses

  1. A minimum of 2-5 years of recent network security experience with hands on expertise in CLI as well as GUI mode .
  2. CCNP,CCNA Security level aptitude .
  3. A minimum of 2-5 years of experience in implementing and managing firewalls ,LBs and WAFs of various vendors .
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  5. Critical thinking skills and the ability to provide solutions with precision during high-pressure situations
  6. Schedule flexibility to include working a weekend day regularly and holidays as required by the business
  7. Has the ability to work on his/her own, be able to remain calm under pressure and to keep his managers informed of progress against a programme of work .
