ABOUT THIS ROLE:
Cars.com’s Editorial department is passionate about helping car shoppers find the right car for their life. That means we dive into the details to demystify not only cars and car shopping but also car ownership.
As a News Editor at Cars.com, you’ll develop as an automotive journalist, writing content that informs and educates consumers throughout their car search. And you’ll be coached by some of the best automotive journalists in the business (we’re biased, of course).
Ultimately, we’re looking for someone with a can-do attitude who’s ready to jump in and help create content, whether that’s for Cars.com’s News, Research or Video sections or even our social channels.
- Create long- and short-form articles about the automotive market for Cars.com’s News and Research sections; write scripts for video series; create content for social platforms, as needed
- Report on a topic, analyze data, establish facts, and write and publish on tight deadlines
- Manage and meet multiple deadlines
- Strong writing background and grammar skills
- Collaborate cross-functionally
- Experience in SEO writing and content optimization, including headlines and keyword search
- Some travel should be expected
- Opportunity to review cars, based on experience
- Role is remote
ABOUT YOU:
- Strong writing background and grammar skills
- Able to meet deadlines consistently
- Experience in journalism and optimizing writing for SEO, including headlines and keyword search
- Basic knowledge of HTML and strong familiarity with content management systems (i.e. WordPress, AEM or similar)
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or related field
Preferred:
- Experience in digital content creation and script writing
- Familiarity with content optimization
- Familiarity with analytics tools
- Familiarity with Tableau or other data analytics tools
- Knowledge of the U.S. automotive market is beneficial, but not required

In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the base salary range for this position which is not inclusive of bonuses, benefits or other forms of compensation that the position may be eligible for. If you are hired at CARS, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills and/or experience. If the salary range is close to what you're seeking, then we encourage you to apply and learn more about the total compensation package for this position.
Salary Range
$68,400—$83,800 USD
