Partner Manager, Athletes & Groups
About This Role
Strava is the leading platform for active people and the largest sports community in the world, with over 100 million athletes in 190 countries. Strava’s mobile apps and website connect millions of active people every day.
Come join the team working to unlock the next generation of storytellers and community organizers across sport, fitness and the outdoors. Our community is the backbone of Strava today. Every activity shared, club joined and event attended creates an opportunity to motivate and connect through a common love of being active.
We are looking for a passionate Partner Manager to identify and build deep relationships with the key creators, community builders, and event organizers in sport. The ideal person needs to understand what is at the cutting edge of content creation and community building. Whether they’re pro athletes, podcasters, writers, experts or event organizers, our aim is to help these individuals grow their audience and engage their communities through using Strava to its fullest potential.
Our team is fast, nimble, and requires a creative and entrepreneurial mindset. You will partner with creators, pros, industry representatives, clubs and event organizers shaping the digital landscape, as well as our Product teams. This role is highly cross-functional and will work closely with Communications, Marketing, and counterparts across Strava to build and launch new features that will reimagine how our community motivates, connects and inspires.
You’re excited about this opportunity because you will:
- Onboard, activate and build relationships with a growing and diverse set of world class US athletes and groups
- Work one-on-one with key athletes, creators, community organizers, and events to help them get the most out of Strava’s products as they build and engage with their followers and communities
- Drive product adoption through strategic partnerships with digital creators, agents, managers, communities, and event organizations; be an advocate for our partners by summarizing and sharing feedback with internal product teams
- Collaborate with internal business, marketing, and country teams working across the emerging connected fitness ecosystem to track, identify, and develop the next generation of star creators and community leaders; help make our partners ‘Strava-famous’
- Work across the company to develop strategies and build scalable systems (workshops, programs, content, programmatic comms, etc) to reach more creators and community organizations with education and resources
- Work proactively to resolve business, technical, and policy issues
- Assist the Partnerships Lead with high-priority planning and tentpole moments
- Organize, track, and measure the success of creators and partners on Strava; communicate these metrics and connect them to broader business trends and larger company initiatives
You will be successful here by:
- Having established athlete, club organizer and/or event relationships with a known reputation for being an expert with a certain cohort of partners, ideally in running, cycling or the broader tech, connected fitness, wellness or outdoor industries.
- Having an interest in the sports and athlete space from a cultural and curiosity point of view. You do not need to have worked in the athlete or fitness industry, but a strong passion for sport, particularly in run/ride, and understanding of the space is important - you’ll be talking to some of the best!
- Recognizing partners that are about to break out culturally as well as a track record mentoring and developing digital talent
- Using data and analytics in the service of larger initiatives — ability to track, analyze and communicate key metrics and business trends
- Articulating athlete and community building culture to internal stakeholders with the knowledge of the events, talent and influencer space; as well as the evolving players in those spaces
- Using your expert knowledge of all social media platforms, the creator-monetization landscape, and how creators create content to help onboard and activate the right partners
- Working with cross-functional teams to develop creative partner activations and moments
- Having extensive experience in external facing roles with the ability to represent Strava at events and industry functions with strong presentation skills
- Having a deep passion for Strava and the health and wellness of the world’s athletes; you may not be a creator or community builder, but you understand the landscape and believe that high quality and inspiring activation is important
- Being passionate about building the next great social network with a collaborative, hard-working and fun team
We’re excited about you because:
- You have 5+ years experience in media, events and/or digital/social network industry, working directly with athletes, creators, community organizers, content and talent management
- You have a BA/BS degree or equivalent experience in event marketing, media and/or the digital industry
- Extensive experience working cross-functionally and with all levels of management
- Project management experience, with experience leading and handling multiple time-sensitive, cross-functional projects on deadline
- Experience designing and executing processes to scale ideas with a strong attention to detail
- Strong communication and presentation skills for both internal and external audiences
- Demonstrated experience thinking strategically about complex issues, leading to thoughtful recommendations and action plans
- Deep knowledge of evolution in content, creators and platforms for reaching audiences
- Nice to have: B2B sales experience across creators, event organizers and other strategic partners
