We are seeking a high-integrity payroll professional to join our finance team. The Payroll Manager will have a hands-on, active role in processing US and Canada payroll, working with the PEO, and third party international payroll processors, as well as all associated activities. Additionally, the Payroll Manager will partner with Accounting, Finance, and HR on various employee and accounting related duties. The position requires managing all aspects of the payroll function and compliance across the US, Canada, and internationally. You will act as a key member of the accounting team responsible for managing accurate and timely payroll processing, payroll journal entries, account analyses and reconciliations. 

Payroll Accounting

  • Ownership of multi-state and international payrolls for all categories of employees. This includes ensuring timeliness, accuracy, completeness, and proper cut-off for each payroll cycle as well as compliance with internal policies and applicable regulations.
  • Process bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll using ADP and process final pay for terminations. Assist in new hire setup, handle tax form processing, benefits deductions setup, terminations, garnishments, etc. Collaborate with HR in employee onboarding and offboarding processes that impact payroll and compensation/benefits/tax issues.
  • Review and audit employee voluntary deductions including medical benefits, FSA, 401(k) contributions and loans; coordinate administration of garnishments, support payments, and other required withholdings.
  • Manage the workflow of payroll data processing, as well as changes to the employee record, in the HRIS to ensure all payroll transactions are completed accurately and timely.
  • Project lead for payroll-related projects, including continuous development of processes that are scalable and support the company’s growth.
  • Audit payroll data for accuracy, including performing reconciliation between the general ledger and bank accounts and investigating any unresolved discrepancies.
  • Ensure proper setup of state payroll registrations on an as needed basis.
  • Maintain compliance with state and local tax jurisdictions- monitoring state, provincial, and local registrations for payroll taxes, local health and state unemployment insurance, workers compensation, etc.
  • Work with international payroll providers and PEO for timely processing of payroll, in compliance with internal policies and resolve any issues. 
  • Analyze and resolve escalated payroll issues and inquiries from employees. 
  • Review and process payment of monthly and quarterly sales commissions/bonuses and associated accounting requirements. 
  • Manage new state registrations for withholding tax, SUI and any applicable local taxes; ensure compliance with federal, state and local payroll, wage and hour laws and best practices.
  • Ensure timely and accurate W-2 preparation at the end of year.

Miscellaneous Support Activities

  • Support accounting team during month end close and daily operations on an as needed basis.
  • Assists with audits of internal records, workers compensation, tax filings and related documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with internal control requirements, policies, and procedures.
  • Assist with Worker’s Compensation, 401(k), and annual audits.
  • Ad hoc analyses as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Desire to build and manage a global payroll function
  • AA/BA/BS in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field preferred
  • 8 plus years of payroll experience with multi-state and international payroll required
  • CPP Certification preferred
  • Detail and accuracy oriented
  • Prior startup/high-growth company experience
  • Advanced experience using payroll systems such as ADP, etc. a must
  • Experience with enterprise-level accounting systems, NetSuite or similar (e.g., Intacct, Oracle, etc.)
  • Strong quantitative skills and knowledge of national, regional and international laws on payroll and taxes as we grow rapidly
  • Understanding federal and state wage and hour laws
  • Advanced skills in Excel
  • Knowledge of tax implications for various types of equity awards (ISO, NSO, RSU, ESPP, etc.)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with an ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and internal/external partners
  • Integrity and sound judgment always maintaining strict confidentiality
  • Experience managing across functions and businesses to accomplish large scale goals in a fast paced, high-growth setting
  • Confidence, good judgment, energy, and personality to work in a dynamic environment across all levels of management and across business units and functions

InfluxData takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into two zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The offered starting salary will be determined based on the candidate’s job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. Ranges are evaluated on a periodic basis and are subject to change at the Company’s discretion.

Salary Range: $125,000- $130,000
