People & Culture Advisor

The P & C Advisor plays a vital role in supporting our western Canada business units, as part of the larger P & C team across the county. We are seeking a candidate in PST or MST time-zone only. This role actively contributes to various HR initiatives: provide guidance on employee engagement and relations, performance, administer benefits, administer HR systems, participate in People & Culture team projects, and ensure adherence to HR policies. Reporting to the Chief People Officer, this role involves collaborating across departments to foster a positive work culture and enhance the employee experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Employee Engagement and Relations:

  • Act as a focal point for employee engagement initiatives, promoting a positive workplace culture.
  • Address and resolve employee relations issues, fostering open communication and collaboration.
  • Ensure consistent application and communication of HR policies to maintain a fair and inclusive workplace.

Performance Management:

  • Support the performance appraisal process, providing guidance to employees and managers.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of performance improvement plans.

Benefits Administration:

  • Administer employee benefits programs, ensuring seamless delivery and addressing inquiries.
  • Collaborate with external vendors to enhance and optimize benefits offerings.

HR Systems Administration:

  • Oversee the administration of HR systems, ensuring data accuracy and system efficiency.
  • Provide support for system-related inquiries and contribute to system enhancements.

HR Policies:

  • Develop, update, and communicate HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Educate employees on HR policies and promote adherence throughout the organization.

People & Culture Team Collaboration:

  • Play a key role in People & Culture team projects, contributing to initiatives that impact the entire country.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive a positive and inclusive workplace culture.

Training and Development:

  • Identify training needs and coordinate relevant sessions for employee development.
  • Support career development initiatives and mentorship programs.

All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • 2-3 years experience in similar HR role, focusing on employee engagement/relations, performance, HR systems and benefits administration, and policies.
  • Excellent emotional intelligence and listening skill.
  • Working knowledge of provincial employment laws and regulations.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft suite – Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, OneNote, Teams.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • HR Certification (CHRP) is an asset.
  • French language skills an asset.
  • Role requires an element of travel to remote business units, primarily in western Canada.

Working Conditions

  • Full time, salaried role working hybrid and in office as required.

  • Role requires an element of travel.
