Job Description

The Principal DevOps Engineer is a hands-on technical position responsible for architecting, designing, and implementing common framework solutions in a cloud-based environment. In the world of DevOps, infrastructure and code become one. This person will architect and drive platform enhancements, enable automation/self-service and implement innovative solutions that enable DevOps capabilities. As part of the Cloud architecture team, this person will be responsible for facilitating the end-to-end deployment of platform systems for global Experian environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Architect procedures and processes across the cloud.
  • Design, deploy, document, and support cloud platform capabilities using AWS (Amazon Web Services) best practices (Fault tolerance, High Availability, Security, etc.)
  • Architect, design, deploy, document, to streamline deployments and infrastructure updates across Experian cloud platforms.
  • Support development teams on key initiatives or projects from requirements to design to implementation
  • Expand automation processes to improve functionality, availability, and manageability of our enterprise cloud offerings
  • Champion application service use of telemetry through metrics, anomaly detection and log analytics
  • Perform advanced operational troubleshooting for cloud & e-commerce environments Improve system performance and features on a regular basis to enhance customer experience
  • Document development team requirements and create and deliver technical solutions to those specifications

Qualifications

  • 10+ years’ experience in a Systems engineering role with at least 5 years supporting DevOps concepts in the cloud.
  • Proficiency with Cloud Native application designs for high performance, scalability, and resilience
  • Deployment of automated solutions in public clouds or on-premise virtual environments. Creation of clustered application environments (DEV/STG/PROD) and deployed services in Amazon AWS, Google and/or Azure.
  • Strong knowledge of docker and container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.
  • In-depth understanding of code and scripting languages such as BASH, Python, JS, or Ruby as well as YAML, JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) data formats
  • Ability to use a wide variety of open-source tooling and cloud services such as AWS, and Infrastructure as code technologies like Terraform.
  • Strong knowledge of DevOps/GitOps tool chains for CI/CD on Linux platforms: Jenkins, Nexus OSS, Artifactory, Harness, Code Pipeline, Code Build, Code Deploy, Confluence, GitHub, Chocolaty, Cloud Formation, JIRA, etc.
  • Operational savvy, experienced in monitoring, alerting, and analyzing system metrics using Splunk, Prometheus, DataDog, Grafana, and/or Dynatrace
  • Proven complex problem-solving capabilities to explain errant system behavior, provide remediation and drive down MTTR
  • Concise English communication, collaboration, and documentation skills tailored to the target audience
  • Passionate about innovation, codified operations, and continuous learning
  • Excited to work in a fast paced, rapidly changing, iterative e-commerce environment
