This role sits in our Data Engineering organization. We own the platforms, services, products, and processes that support customer oriented, data-driven models. On this team, you will have the opportunity to work with internal customers to drive data products and establish foundational data which serve AI Platform & Machine Learning Engineering stakeholders across all of Zillow.
About the role

This role will be helping to establish Zillow’s suite of Data Products to enable AI. The scope includes gathering requirements, prioritization and execution of Data Products - source aligned, aggregate or curated consumer aligned. The other aspect of this role is representing AI & ML Engineers in their platform needs and enabling them to self-serve their data production & consumption needs.
In this role, you will:
- Prioritize backlogs with your data engineering team to deliver data products end-to-end
- Work with AI PMs, Data Scientists and ML Engineering customers to understand their data needs.
- Write requirements for data platform and tooling capabilities needed to serve Zillow’s AI teams.
- Communicate and collaborate by articulating the “why” and "what" customer problem to solve, working with others, and balancing their point of view with solicited input of others
- Deliver impact and results by defining success metrics, analyzing data for insights
- Inform AI’s data strategy by understanding customer needs and technical designs of products to serve them
- Mobilize your team to do their best work by providing clear direction, handling dependencies, removing blockers and applying effective operating rhythms
This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 United States, with limited exceptions.
In California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC the standard base pay range for this role is $170,200.00 - $271,800.00 Annually. This base pay range is specific to California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC and may not be applicable to other locations.
In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.
Who you are
- 7+ years of experience in a product management role, with a focus on data products for Data Scientists and Machine Learning Engineers.
- 2+ years of experience working directly with data modeling/warehouse teams to translate customer requirements into structured data.
- 2+ years of working with Internal AI/ML teams to meet their data needs as a stakeholder.
- Makes decisions to address widespread shifts in technology, impacting cross organization plans and is responsible for ensuring resources and processes are established for effective execution
- Data Product decisions, solutions, and suggestions are accurate and successful when judged over time
- Identifies when to apply a solution to specific problems and when a patterned solution can apply more broadly
- Communication artifacts are exemplary examples for others to follow
- Finds common ground, leads, inspires and mentors
