About the Role:
The Principal Product Manager is responsible for owning risk management and fraud prevention for our Gusto Global products. This individual will help build the product features and risk capabilities that enable Gusto Global to help US employers on Gusto to safely pay their employees and contractors internationally across tens of countries.
About the Team:
The Payments and Risk team at Gusto ensures that our 300,000+ small and medium businesses and millions of their employees are getting paid on time, every time in a safe manner. You will be our Risk Product Manager who helps enable the Gusto Global teams to scale by developing risk systems, processes and policies that are foundational to our payroll solutions. You will work closely with a team of Engineers and Designers, to build the roadmap, set strategic priorities, and ensure the successful implementation of our global risk stack.
Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day:
- Build products and services that help manage fraud and credit risk while enabling positive user experiences for Gusto Global products
- Develop the roadmap of your product area through deep research and understanding of business goals and OKRs
- Work collaboratively with Engineers, Designers, Product Managers, Fraud/Risk Operations and other stakeholders to bring new products and features to our customers
- Conduct market research to inform strategy, measure performance against key indicators, and inform future improvements
- Model and systematize data-driven decision-making by consistently reviewing KPI dashboards with team while driving transparency and focus on customer and business outcomes
Here’s what we're looking for:
- 6+ years of experience in product management and risk related work
- Experience designing and building risk management platforms that find the balance of loss prevention and user experience
- Knowledge of systems, processes, tools and vendors related to threat detection, payment transactions, operational procedures, and risk scoring
- Ability to make sound risk and customer experience decisions in the absence of data
- Ability to communicate effectively based on audience
- Experience with data structures, analytics, and AI/ML models for risk management is a plus
Our cash compensation range for this role is $153,000 to $191,000 in Denver & most remote locations, and $186,000 to $230,000 in San Francisco & New York. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate location, experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.
Gusto has physical office spaces in Denver, San Francisco, and New York City. Employees who are based in those locations will be expected to work from the office on designated days approximately 2-3 days per week (or more depending on role). The same office expectations apply to all Symmetry roles, Gusto's subsidiary, whose physical office is in Scottsdale.
Note: The San Francisco office expectations encompass both the San Francisco and San Jose metro areas.
