Principal Sound Designer
Methodical Games is a newly formed studio built around a fundamental set of ideals; a lean talented team, direct cross-discipline collaboration, quick iteration, and developer-driven processes. We are looking for an experienced Principal Sound Designer. As the first member of the audio department, you will leverage your dual expertise in the technical and creative aspects of sound design to define signature audio for a new IP built in Unreal Engine 5. Our ideal candidate is passionate about games and is excited by the possibilities of crafting an immersive soundscape that will bring fantastical worlds to life.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with a small team to guide decisions for all things audio.
- Establish audio software and hardware requirements.
- Sound design for a wide range of game contexts - UI, gameplay, ambience, music, etc.
- Drive audio pipeline research and development.
- Conduct field recordings.
- Collaborate with other disciplines to establish design goals.
- Implement sound effects and music in Unreal Engine 5.
- Musical scoring and editing.
- Enhance player immersion through audio design.
- Play and give feedback on the game. Your voice matters.
Qualifications
- 5+ years experience as an audio designer.
- Portfolio demonstrating creative and technical achievements in sound design, ideally project defining content.
- A deep appreciation for how audio contributes to gameplay feel and communicates key information to players.
- Proficiency in all aspects of sound design - from creation, to implementation, to post production.
- Experience and proficiency with pro audio tools and hardware.
- Extensive audio recording, processing, and mixing skills.
- Fluent in Unreal Engine audio systems.
- An understanding of next gen console audio capabilities.
- Passion for making and playing games.
Nice to Have
- Experience with advanced audio features in Unreal Engine 5.
- Experience with multiplayer games.
- Unreal Blueprint scripting skills.
- Shipped console game experience.
