Product Manager, Outbound Funds
Who we are
About Stripe
Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies—from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups—use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone’s reach while doing the most important work of your career.
About the team
The Money Management Abstractions (MMA) team is building the future of Stripe’s money management (“v2” or “StripeNext”) while supporting the most fundamental money management capabilities of Stripe today (“v1”). This team builds, maintains, and extends the user-facing capabilities to fund, store, and move money within the GPTN. We “abstract” or make the powerful capabilities the MMS Network and Platform teams build legible and usable to users. We do this via Money Management APIs (v1 and v2).
What you’ll do
You’ll work closely with MMA engineering, leaders across MMS (Network, Platform, MMCE), product leaders across Stripe (Accounts, Connect, BaaS), and cross-functional partners to help us build out the Money Management Abstractions.
Responsibilities
The MMA team builds 3 sets of abstractions to power money movement on Stripe. These abstractions consist of funding money into Stripe accounts, storing money within those accounts, and sending money out of Stripe accounts into users bank accounts.
This role is responsible for the set of abstractions which allow users to send money out of Stripe. As we build financial infrastructure for the internet, platforms and marketplaces take advantage of that infrastructure by directing funds out to various people in a given transaction. For example when ordering food from your favorite restaurant delivery service, platforms need to payout the driver who delivered the food, the restaurant who cooked the food, and keep some portion of fees for themselves. This complex financial transaction is a core component of Stripe’s business and you will be responsible for owning the next generation of API’s to make this distribution of funds possible. Not only will you need to be able to think strategically about how we offer payouts to our users, but you will need to be technically savvy enough to design world-class API’s.
Who you are
We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.
Minimum requirements
- User-first: you can synthesize external and internal (e.g. Connect, Treasury) user demands to inform design choices and prioritization, and manage pilot / betas Comfortable across the stack: our work sits in-between our network teams and our users. You’ll need to be equally comfortable working with bank partners as you are with end users
- Technically curious: you are comfortable in technical conversations, opinionated on user needs, and are willing to work closely with engineering and tech leads on API design. You don’t need to be ‘technical’, but your product is an API
- Cross-functional: you can coordinate closely across product teams and functions (e.g. Legal, Treasury, Financial Crimes, etc.). Our team sits between fundamental financial and bank partner integrations and our users
- Strong communicators: given the systemic importance of our work, we radiate intent to ensure partners, stakeholders, and leaders understand our progress and bottlenecks
- Strong executors: we move with speed and urgency to make the future (“v2”) a reality
Hybrid work at Stripe
This role is available either in an office or a remote location (typically, 35+ miles or 56+ km from a Stripe office).
Office-assigned Stripes spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This hits a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility about how to do this in a way that makes sense for individuals and their teams.
A remote location, in most cases, is defined as being 35 miles (56 kilometers) or more from one of our offices. While you would be welcome to come into the office for team/business meetings, on-sites, meet-ups, and events, our expectation is you would regularly work from home rather than a Stripe office. Stripe does not cover the cost of relocating to a remote location. We encourage you to apply for roles that match the location where you currently or plan to live.
Pay and benefits
The annual US base salary range for this role is $194,800 - $292,200. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the US may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process.
Additional benefits for this role may include: equity, company bonus or sales commissions/bonuses; 401(k) plan; medical, dental, and vision benefits; and wellness stipends.
