Product Operations Lead

Posted May 11

Are you a Product Operations leader with an itch to design and right-size operational solutions, facilitate the operational cadences that underpin a healthy Product & Engineering team, help translate product data into actionable insights, and work closely with leaders across the company to maximize product impact? If so, Apollo is your playground! At Apollo, you’ll help shape the future of how the world's top enterprises innovate and deliver mission-critical platforms and applications.

As our founding Product Operations Lead, you'll design, own, and drive the operational cadences that support our Product, Design, and Engineering (PDE) teams. You'll equip them with tools, practices, and insights, empowering them to make faster decisions and maximize the performance and impact of our products. You’ll love the entrepreneurial, collaborative, and analytical aspects of this role - and will have company-wide visibility and impact as you build out a new muscle of operational excellence at Apollo.

ABOUT APOLLO:

Whether you binge-watch a series on Netflix, plan faraway vacations from your phone, or read international news online, you’ve likely used Apollo’s technology this week. Apollo supports some of the largest GraphQL platforms in the world.

We’re not looking to rest on our laurels though — we’re aiming to change how software is built. Apollo wants to empower every software team to build an amazing user experience across any number of clients, without dealing with a barrage of API endpoints.

Equal to all of that, Apollo is intent on becoming the company where you can see your career grow through challenging work, collaborating with incredible teammates, and accomplishing the unattainable

What you’ll do:

  • Create and maintain a PDE Operating cadence, including facilitation and optimization of forums like roadmap planning and reviews, product councils, product launches, and feature release coordination.
  • Develop and drive a roadmap of tooling improvements for PDE workflows, which may include deploying new tools and formalizing/adjusting workflows in existing tools.
  • Invest in automation, data visualization, and tooling that gives Apollo improved visibility into PDE execution, product performance, and customer experience.
  • Establish portals for self-serve visibility into PDE progress for the rest of the company, and if necessary, our customers.
  • Scale best practices - work with cross-functional operations leads to level-up company wide performance and coordination.

Who you are:

  • Experience in Product Operations, Product Management, Management Consulting, and/or Strategy and Operations, including at least some experience in Product Operations Management in a B2B environment.
  • Analytical, with experience using data to share insights that have influenced product or strategic direction.
  • Experience designing, optimizing, scaling, and iterating on operational programs.
  • Cross-functional communication and change management skills, including the ability to influence and execute projects with stakeholders ranging from technical ICs to Executives.
  • Experience owning programs and executing complex projects end-to-end.
  • Relationship builder, with experience managing projects with technical as well as Executive stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated, with enthusiasm for building things from the ground up.
  • Compelling written and verbal communication skills, like the ability to distill and articulate insights that lead to faster ideas and decisions about product improvements.

Nice to haves:

  • Experience with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence) is preferred.
  • Technical analytical skills, like SQL or data modeling in Google Sheets/Excel.
  • Direct experience with GraphQL, API middleware, or scaled API platforms; ideally with experience working on developer platforms and infrastructure or similar B2B products.
