Product Owner, Risk Management

Reporting to the Director of Product Management, the Product Owner’s responsibilities include gathering feature requests, scheduling releases and coordinating sprints. To be successful in this role, you should be able to identify user needs and work with cross-functional teams to manage product releases.
Responsibilities
- Organize, prioritize and assess work for the scrum teams for the iRIS, Human Ethics and Outside Interests applications
- Develop and write user stories with clear acceptance criteria
- Utilize data, analysis, and user feedback to make decisions and influence others
- Groom and prioritize backlog
- Plan and communicate releases and upgrades
- Follow progress of work and address production issues during sprints
- Lead Agile execution ceremonies with the engineering team: sprint planning, story refinement, daily stand up, sprint review, and retrospective
- Act as the main point of contact between teams and stakeholders
- Work closely with Product Management colleagues to ensure alignment to the roadmap
- Translates product roadmap features into well-defined product requirements including features, user stories, and acceptance test criteria.
- Assist the scrum/product development teams to meet the objectives of each sprint
- Monitor provided metrics for Say/Do, Scope Change, Software Quality, Dev Capacity, etc., and adjust practices to achieve targets.
- Develop application subject matter expertise over time to act as the escalation point for questions from the customer support team
- Complete final acceptance testing for items delivered each sprint
- Report progress to Senior Leadership in scheduled monthly meetings
Skills and Requirements
- 5+ years in SaaS businesses
- Previous work experience as a Product Owner or similar role
- Proven experience creating effective business requirements and user stories
- Hands-on experience managing all stages of the product life cycle
- Technical background with knowledge of software development and SaaS technologies
- In-depth knowledge of Agile methodologies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to effectively and actively communicate with both business and technical stakeholders and resources
- Comfort with ambiguity; demonstrated track record of developing solutions to problems
- Ability to earn and keep trust of customers, stakeholders, and engineering teams
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical individuals; excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong leadership skills to help cultivate team cohesion and strong Agile habits with a mix of on-shore, near-shore and off-shore engineering resources
- Bachelor's degree with BSc in Computer Science, Information Systems or similar preferred
