As a Regulatory Change Senior Associate, you will use your expertise and organizational and critical thinking skills to assess new or changed laws and regulations and how they may impact the Commercial lines of business.

The role of a Capital One Commercial Risk Office (CRO) Regulatory Change Senior Associate includes responsibility for defined aspects of the regulatory change intake process for all Commercial Bank lines of business (1st line). The regulatory change Senior Associate is responsible for diverse duties related to helping CRO assess, track and document actions associated with the regulatory changes.

The CRO receives hundreds of regulatory change notices and advisory communications which may require action on the part of the business. They can address any type of new legal requirements (e.g., Federal and State laws, SROs and governmental agencies). CRO partners with Legal and Compliance to make determinations as to the applicability of the regulatory change and determine the business actions necessary for compliance.

Duties:

  • Tracking of new laws and regulations; managing intake of notices received, prioritizing for review
  • Research state and federal laws, business procedures and practices, and Capital One’s policies, procedures, and controls
  • Work on presentation of regulatory changes in advance of meetings with a wide range of teams across the business organization
  • Monitor and document updates until required actions are completed (e.g., control writing, policy drafting, etc.)
  • Regulatory change meeting prep (some scheduling, minutes/action items)
  • Work with a number of reporting tools provided by Capital One and create, edit and manage multiple facets of business unit reporting
  • Monitoring intake and assessment of new or changed laws and the progress of business programs
  • Reporting to senior leadership and collaborating with internal partners

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Military Experience
  • At least 1 year of experience in a law firm, risk management or financial services

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of experience in a law firm, risk management or financial services
  • At least 1 year of experience in project management, business process management, compliance or consulting, including change management or bank regulatory experience
  • Ability to support cross-functional teams in a fast paced environment
  • Proficiency with the Google Suite (i.e. Google Docs, Sheets and Slides)

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

Location is New York City: $99,500 - $113,600 for Sr. Risk Associate Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
