We’re looking for motivated and experienced tax preparers to file personal tax returns for Wealthsimple clients who want us to do their taxes for them.
If you have a wealth of personal T1 tax preparation experience, solid client management and communication skills, and prepare multiple tax returns every day, we’d love to hear from you.

In this role, you will:
- Communicate directly with Wealthsimple clients to compile their tax documents and file their T1 Personal Tax returns using a professional tax software
- Review returns prior to Efile submission
- Research complex tax scenarios and offering opinions based on the CRA Tax Code, to maximize the client’s tax return
- Answer various tax related questions to ensure accurate and impactful information is being provided by the client
- Share tax knowledge with your team of tax professionals by being a point of contact for tax questions, clarifications, or complex tax scenarios
- Provide confidence inspiring 1-1 service primarily online using collaboration software (Google Meet, Zoom, etc). Follow-ups via email is also required
- Assist with Audit Protection tickets as needed
- Capture and share insights to improve the end to end client experience
We're looking for someone who:
- Possesses a passion and energy for helping people file taxes
- Has a deep understanding of the ins and outs of Canadian taxes - You know how to file tax returns, what goes into preparing tax returns, and more importantly, know how to explain these concepts simply
- Researches tax rules and regulations regularly - You provide accurate and situation specific advice in order to maximize a client’s tax return
- Technically savvy - You have used professional tax software, along with collaboration software, and managed a daily schedule of appointments. More specifically, you have the ability and knowledge to navigate multiple online applications simultaneously to deliver effective and actionable solutions for clients and yourself
- Thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment - You’re a trusted team member and professional who can manage a schedule and workload with a positive, self-starter mindset. It’s important you take pride in your work and all of your interactions, and display ownership for your client’s experience
- Communicates with clear and concise details - Your written and verbal communication is focused on ensuring efficient, accurate, and precise guidance
Skills and experience we're looking for:
- 3+ years professional tax preparation experience
- 75+ Canadian T1 personal tax returns prepared per tax year, for the last 3 years.
- Must have experience preparing and reviewing tax returns that include self-employment income, rental income, investments, cryptocurrency, and foreign income, including filing T1135
- Experience handling RRSP over-contribution reporting will be considered an asset
- Prior experience with GST/HST returns is considered an asset
- Comfortable with collaboration software and remote work. This is a 100% remote position using a variety of online software and tools to engage with the client
- Adept at using professional tax preparation software in prior roles
- Tax Preparer certification is a strong asset
- Bilingual, in both English and French, is a welcome asset
- Prior filing experience using Wealthsimple Tax is an asset
