Senior 3D Creature Artist
We are seeking Senior/Middle 3D Creature Artist to work on one of the biggest Metaverse projects ever Seedworld on Unreal 5.2+.
As a 3D Creature Artist you will create stylized creatures, possess a strong understanding of anatomy, and be adept at hand-painted techniques within a Physically Based Rendering (PBR) workflow. The role involves collaborating closely with the Art Director and Lead Artist to bring captivating creatures to life in our projects.
Responsibilities:
- Develop high-quality 3D models of creatures in the Semi Realistic/Stylized art style, adhering to established artistic and technical guidelines.
- Utilize hand-painted textures and materials within a PBR workflow to achieve visually appealing results.
- Ensure accuracy in anatomy, proportions, and overall design while infusing creativity and personality into creature creations.
- Collaborate with the Art Director and Lead Artist to understand project requirements and maintain consistency with the artistic vision.
- Iterate on designs based on feedback from the team, incorporating adjustments and improvements as needed.
- Optimize models and textures for performance without sacrificing visual quality.
- Stay updated on industry trends and techniques to continually enhance skills and workflows.
- Ability to summarize work and documentation to make internal and outsourcing communication better for the full team.
Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years of professional experience as a 3D Character/Creature Artist in the gaming industry with at least one AAA game shipped on PC or console in the last 3 to 5 years.
- 3+ years of experience using Maya, Photoshop, Z-Brush, Substance Painter & Designer.
- Strong ability to give life to a creature, taking in great interest its shape and feel.
- Expertise in hand-painted texturing techniques and experience working within a PBR pipeline.
- Solid understanding of creature anatomy, including anatomy variations for stylized designs.
Desired Qualifications:
- Fast, organized, collaborative and able to handle feedback.
- Strong organizational, communication skills and a fluent level in English along with understanding production values, deadlines and priorities.
- Bonus Skills:
- Familiarity with rigging and animation principles, particularly as they relate to creature models
