Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Accountant – Revenue & Group Reporting to join our Finance team based in the UK. With a strong understanding and extensive hands-on experience in practical application of revenue accounting under IFRS 15 in a software/licensing environment, your role will be to ensure high quality reporting and strong financial control whilst delivering trusted results. Whilst we predominately work remotely, the successful candidate must be able to commute to the office in Cambridge, ideally at least twice a month (one day, every other week).

A bit about the team and what you'll deliver...

As the Senior Accountant – Revenue & Group Reporting, you will:

Revenue:

  • Manage the month end and quarter end close processes related to Revenue and Accounts Receivable including revenue cut-off, account analysis, reconciliations, journal entry postings and preparing revenue and AR reports.
  • Partner with commercial finance team to review complex contracts, assess and determine the proper revenue treatment in accordance with IFRS15 and group revenue recognition policy.
  • Liaise with contract teams, ensuring contracts are properly executed, document flow is standardized, and contracts items added to SAP.
  • Develop and maintain group revenue recognition policies & procedures and ensure they are applied appropriately, imparting technical revenue recognition knowledge.
  • Assist in the drafting, update, and review of revenue technical papers.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives and maintain strong controls around the completeness and accuracy of revenue and receivables.
  • Liaise with the assistant accountant to turn an executed contract into a valid sales invoice, managing the accounting aspects of the contract: accruals, deferrals, recognition.
  • Support the assistant accountant to ensure correct allocation of cash receipts, WHT deductions and maximise cash collections.
  • Be responsible for annual review and update of ECL provision.

Group reporting:

  • Liaise with external accountants and outsourced partners to manage the full month end reporting process for multi-currency subsidiaries and branches.
  • Produce monthly detailed review of individual subsidiary reporting to ensure accuracy and alignment to group reporting policies.
  • Product monthly update and annual reconciliation of group fixed assets schedule.
  • Assist with group P13 reporting and adjustments including liaison with external accountants to ensure that all P13 journals are booked accurately.
  • Assist with group yearend reporting and annual financial statements preparation.
  • Prepare subsidiary intercompany recharge invoices.
  • Produce local statutory compliance reporting including review of financial statements, tax compliance, VAT and corporate tax returns prepared by external accountants.
  • Integration of new subsidiaries into the group.
  • Review and approving subsidiary and branch payment runs.
  • Liaise with external auditors and responding to auditor queries.
  • Assist UK Accountant with annual intercompany netting.
  • Assisti with the preparation of UK tax packs.
  • Provision of financial information, analysis, and advice to support business projects and aid decision making.
  • Work with the wider finance team to manage, develop and improve finance processes to ensure that robust controls are in place and processes are efficient.

Who you are...

As the Senior Accountant – Revenue & Group Reporting you will:

  • Have a strong understanding and extensive hands-on experience in practical application of revenue accounting under IFRS 15 in a software/licensing environment.
  • Have strong technical accounting skills, UK GAAP and IFRS.
  • Have demonstrable experience of working in a fast-paced multi-currency environment.
  • Have a proven understanding of the tax implications of global invoicing; VAT, GST, Withholding tax.
  • Have the ability to present and communicate complex information clearly and concisely to a finance and non-finance audience.
  • Be confident and able to advise and challenge on accounting matters.
  • Have solid organisational skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively, juggle multiple projects, and prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
  • Have strong excel skills with aptitude to understand systems and how to use them for efficient financial reporting.
  • Be organised, methodical, rigorous, and autonomous.
  • Be able to thrive in a dynaminc, constantly evolvinv, small team environment.
  • Have the ability to build strong working relationships.

What makes you, you...

Essential knowledge/experience of:

  • Revenue reporting under IFRS15 for a global multicurrency technology organisation.
  • Group consolidation under IFRS for a group of 4 or more global companies.
  • 2+ years post-qualified accountant experience.
  • Liaison with auditors and producing statutory accounts under IFRS and FRS 101.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent
  • ACA, ACCA qualification
