Our Design team is seeking a highly experienced and innovative Senior Art Director. This role is uniquely positioned to leverage your extensive design expertise and passion for cutting-edge technology to shape the future of our 800+ hyper-local magazines’ visual storytelling. You’ll play a pivotal role in exploring the use of automation and AI in template and magazine design, particularly using Adobe InDesign.

In a Typical Day, You’ll:
- Develop and execute compelling visual layouts / templates for our magazine, ensuring consistency with content, brand identity, and editorial vision.
- Oversee the design and layout of many of our 800+ monthly magazine editions, ensuring high-quality standards and creativity are maintained.
- Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, meeting tight deadlines without compromising on quality.
- Manage and collaborate closely with Designers, content creators, and the Marketing team to create visually engaging layouts that enhance the reader experience.
- Explore and implement automation and AI tools in the design process, particularly with Adobe InDesign and Adobe Express.
- Experiment with and evaluate new design techniques and tools to streamline production processes.
- Work closely with junior Designers to create cohesive and captivating visual narratives.
To Land This Gig, You Need:
- A minimum of 15 years of experience in art direction, preferably in the magazine or publishing industry.
- A proven track record of creating visually compelling, award-winning magazine layouts.
- Expert proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and other Adobe software.
- An understanding of publication workflows and the ability to create new workflows. (Adobe Express or Firefly knowledge is a plus!)
- A strong understanding and interest in gaining practical experience with automation and AI tools in design.
- Exceptional creative vision and attention to detail.
- The ability to conceptualize and execute innovative design solutions that engage and inspire readers.
- Self-motivation and the ability to work independently.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing project requirements.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
