Position Overview:
We are currently looking for a Senior Business Analyst to join our team. Reporting into the Director of Finance, the Senior Business Analyst will be responsible for providing insights through data that assist in driving our business objectives forward. They will do so by working closely with Aviron’s departments, understanding business needs, reviewing available data sources, and working with internal/external resources to both provide recommendations and insights, as well as assist in managing the creation of tools for business management and decision making. This role is a ‘Quantitative Generalist’ who can use their analytics experience in a number of areas across Aviron’s business.
This position is fully remote with the option of coming into our North York office at any time.
Responsibilities:
- Insights: Extracting actionable insights that will help drive operational improvements and inform strategic business decisions.
- Initiatives and Special Projects: Performs analysis of business problems and opportunities to recommend solutions that enable Aviron to achieve its goals. Working closely with senior executives to manage specific initiatives linked to current business needs and areas of focus, example - assessing competitor landscapes, industry and target audience analysis, market analysis of a specific service, etc.
- Solution Implementation: Involvement and management of solutions identified through analysis such as a business KPI dashboard.
- Process Improvement: Review business processes and identify opportunities and strategies to improve business efficiency.
- Risk Management: Identify and address operational, financial and technological risk within the business.
- Roadmap ownership: Manage corporate project roadmap and help to ensure all milestones are met.
- Metrics and KPIs: Define, implement and monitor key metrics and KPIs to ensure ongoing strategic alignment with short and long term business objectives.
- Provide input on decisions relating to marketing, sales, and product development.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications / What You’ll Need to Succeed:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Computer Science, Math or related field required.
- 6-8 years as a Business Analyst or related position.
- Management consulting experience is an asset.
- Top-notch mathematical and analytical skills.
- Experience in data analytics and insights.
- Working knowledge of data analysis and forecasting tools.
- Strong ability to develop actionable insights from data.
- High attention to detail.
- Ops and Systems experience (ERP).
- Excellent communicator who can effectively communicate findings and make recommendations to senior management.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and change. Ability to rapidly adapt analysis and recommendations in response to changes in the business environment.
- Proactive and self-directed. Take initiative and work independently to identify business opportunities and problems and develop solutions.
- Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Legally eligible to work in Canada.
Nice to have:
- Netsuite experience.
- Good understanding of the startup ecosystem. Familiar with the various stages of a startup's lifecycle and the challenges that startups face at each stage.
