Humana’s The Hive is seeking a Senior Designer to join the Creative Solutions team! The Hive is Humana's in-house agency. We are a creative collective built exclusively to support the business and the brand. Our sole purpose is to create meaning, influence choice, and motivate change through brand expression.

Responsibilities

As the Senior Designer (internally known as a Senior Creative Development Professional), you will be a working team leader and a critical conceptual thinker who develops creative strategy and exceptional creative content across all media. The work requires business curiosity and analysis of complex situations or data to determine the creative solution, and the ability to successfully incorporate feedback while maintaining the integrity of an idea. You will develop visual and verbal brand identity standards, and brand expression for integrated marketing campaigns from concept to completion.

Key Role Functions

  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team to develop omni-channel campaigns that include email, web, print and SMS, and create edit, test, and improve content that makes Humana plans easier to understand and use
  • Ensure brand consistency, campaign continuity, and creative quality for a line of business
  • Translate business and brand objectives into compelling creative concepts for integrated marketing campaigns
  • Operate with little instruction on day-to-day work, general instruction on new assignments; establish own work priorities and timelines and applies in-depth brand knowledge to moderately complex situations
  • Develop creative content for all media including print, digital, social, video, and environmental
  • Foster a collaborative creative culture and provides constructive critique that elevates outcomes
  • Regularly utilize new technologies, theories, relevant industry trends, and establish creative development best practices

To be successful in this role, you must make decisions on creative approach using discretion and independent judgment while fostering a collaborative culture with a diverse team of subject matter experts, product managers, and journey leadership to build and refine our development practices and continually iterate to ensure success. You must demonstrate a mastery of brand and design principles, relevant content development experience for performance marketing, and proficiency with Agile methodologies. Ultimately you will have the opportunity to institute processes that accelerate development and improve coordination across teams.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • An industry competitive portfolio (Portfolio samples must be submitted with application to be considered. Include a maximum of 5 work samples which best demonstrate your skills)
  • 5+ years professional experience in a creative agency environment
  • Proficiency with industry standard design tools, including Adobe Creative Suite, Figma and Microsoft software
  • Familiar with Salesforce Marketing Cloud (email content builder)
  • UX/UI experience developing direct to consumer marketing communications across all media
  • Proficiency with Agile methodologies
  • Demonstrated ability to independently advance the creative development process, from low-fidelity prototyping concepts through production, across a broad range of media
  • Strong communication and presentation skills and ability to lead with influence as a cross-functional leader
  • Focused on continuously improving consumer experiences
  • Human-centered design mindset
  • Able to effectively apply Humana’s culture and teaming models in small and large group settings

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Humana’s digital media, business, and brand acumen
  • 2+ years of experience leading a creative team
  • Thrives in ambiguous environments
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytic and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in usability testing with people with disabilities
  • Awareness and passion about emerging trends and innovation within usability, accessibility, or UX
  • T-shaped; deep digital expertise in one or more areas with a broad set of complementary design capabilities
  • Strong motion graphics portfolio

Additional Requirements

All Humana associates approved for the Home or Hybrid Home/Office work styles are required to self-provide wireless, wired cable or DSL access to the internet at the connectivity speeds required by the company to successfully perform their job with the exception of associates who live or work from home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota. Connectivity requirements are detailed below.

Connectivity – Requirement Details

To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates’ ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates must meet the following criteria:

  • At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is recommended to support Humana applications, per associate.
  • Wireless, Wired Cable or DSL connection is suggested.
  • Satellite, cellular and microwave connection can be used only if they provide an optimal connection for associates. The use of these methods must be approved by leadership. (See Wireless, Wired Cable or DSL Connection in Exceptions, Section 7.0 in this policy.)

Humana will not pay for or reimburse Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates for any portion of the cost of their self-provided internet service, with the exception of associates who live or work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota. Associates who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.

Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job.
