Senior DevOps Engineer

Bluesight is looking for an experienced and talented DevOps Engineer to join our Platform, Data, and Security Engineering team to help us ensure that Bluesight is a secure, scalable, and compliant Medication Intelligence platform. By streamlining a hospital pharmacy's daily routines with our RFID scanners and inventory management solution (KitCheck), reducing risk and enhancing a hospital's compliance with our diversion platform (ControlCheck), providing in-depth cost analysis and savings of their drug spending (CostCheck), or automating tagging and registration of drugs at the point of manufacture (Registry), we're committed to improving the full lifecycle of medication management for our nation's healthcare providers.

The Opportunity

You'll help shape, build and grow the foundations of our platform. We're excited for the perspectives you bring and looking forward to your approach to our goals. You'll be responsible for contributing to, operating, and improving all aspects of our infrastructure and the developer experience with the infrastructure. You are able to maintain a holistic view of the development, testing, and production environments, while collaborating with all members of the technical team to support, maintain, and deploy the best products possible. The ideal candidate will be very experienced with Amazon Web Services, infrastructure-as-code tools like Cloudformation or Terraform, and a strong desire to foster and grow an empathic and cooperative engineering culture.

Behind the scenes, the team is working to improve the durability and efficiency of our products by improving the tooling, deployment, and shared computing layer for the company, while optimizing for cost, scale, and fault-tolerance on AWS. As Bluesight grows, these will be key initiatives enabling Bluesight developers the ability to deliver operationally excellent and highly available products to our customers.

The team's scope of work includes tooling and systems for continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD), access control, benchmarking, observability, incident response, database replication, cost engineering, and more.

In this role, you can expect to:

  • Help improve our software development lifecycle from local development to production
  • Actively identify, plan and implement developer tooling and automation
  • Participate in on-call rotations and assist on-call engineering teams with diagnostics and troubleshooting of platform and infrastructure
  • Take active role in defining overall DevOps direction and quarterly OKR planning to facilitate

About you:

  • 6+ years in Developer ci/cd tooling, site reliability or infrastructure engineering roles
  • Track record of building developer tools and automating processes 
  • Proven ability to design and develop scalable, efficient, and cost-conscious fault-tolerant systems
  • Experience with supporting applications in one or more of Rails, Python or Java
  • Success implementing infrastructure as code including pipelines as code (Terraform, Helm etc.) and containers (Docker, K8s)
  • Expert-level knowledge with production observability systems and Site Reliability in a cloud environment (AWS)
  • Linux system administration expertise

What we'd also love to see:

  • Deep experience with IAM and implementation of hybrid RBAC/ABAC policy environments
  • Database management expertise, especially the AWS flavors (RDS, Aurora)
  • Security and compliance control experience, especially with SOC2, HIPAA, or HiTRUST controls
  • Any code, writing, or projects that are public or shareable demonstrating experience or understanding of how operational excellence is key to delivering great products

The standard base pay range for this role is $135,000 - $160,000. In addition to a base salary this position is also eligible for an amazing benefits package. Actual amount of salary will vary depending on position offered, experience, performance, and location.
