Senior DevOps Engineer
Background:
MiraDX is a biotechnology research company currently focused on personalized cancer therapies. We're looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our software engineering team.
As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for building and maintaining the infrastructure that powers our healthcare platform. You'll work closely with our engineering team to implement systems and processes that ensure reliable delivery of accurate patient results, while maintaining strict HIPAA compliance and data security standards. This role reports directly to the VP of Engineering.
Schedule:
The engineering team is fully remote, and you will need to have a few hours overlap with 8:30AM-5:30PM Pacific Time. There are two mandatory, teamwide meetings on Wednesday from 9:00AM-11:00AM Pacific Time.
Responsibilities:
This job requires a true self-starter. You will be expected to do requirements gathering, translate those requirements into technical work, and then implement that work on your own. We are a small team, so there is a massive opportunity for shaping and owning the technical direction of our infrastructure.
- Design and implement robust CI/CD pipelines to enable safe, efficient deployments
- Set up, manage, and optimize our AWS infrastructure, ensuring security, compliance, and cost-effectiveness
- Enhance our monitoring, logging, and debugging capabilities to maintain system reliability
- Implement and maintain HIPAA-compliant infrastructure for sensitive patient data (ex. databases, file storage, etc.)
- Improve automated testing processes
- Collaborate with engineers to streamline development processes and improve productivity
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in DevOps or SRE
- Expertise in CI/CD pipeline development and maintenance
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex issues
- Strong experience with AWS services and infrastructure management
- Strong understanding of security best practices and compliance requirements
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
Nice to Haves:
- Experience in healthcare or other industries requiring regulatory compliance
- Experience with automated testing frameworks and tools (ex. Cypress, Jest, Browserstack, etc.)
- Experience with MDM solutions
- Background in software engineering
Important Traits:
- Kindness - egos don't have a place in our meetings 😊
- Accountability - a high-trust environment means being able to own up to, debug, and resolve any issues that may happen
- Communication - there's a wide mix of scientific / medical / engineering knowledge on the team so being able to distill information in a way anyone can understand is important
Notes:
- We're looking for a full-time employee, but this will begin as a 6-week contract-to-hire position.
- We will be upfront about expectations during this period, and have regularly scheduled check-ins
- An annual salary will be agreed upon upfront, and the hourly rate for the 6 weeks will be based off that annual salary.
- We are only accepting applications via Wellfound. If you reach out to us in any other way it will be ignored!
